99% of the time I get in the car to go somewhere the front windshield fogs up, especially in the am. Is there a solution for this.
Thanks, Cas

I don't think ACC will fix this. I live in Houston and have Volvo's version of ACC on my 2001 S60. In the morning, your windshield has cooled below the dew point, both inside and outside the car. Not difficult when the temp is 80F with 90% humidity at 6 AM!
I've found I have to set the controls to defrost/defog, both front and rear, with the temp set all the way up, so it blows warm air across the inside of the windshield and rear window. Within 3 blocks or so, the windows have cleared, and I can set the system back to Auto @ 74F.
Stepen,
Unfortunately that is what I have to do. I sweat for two or three blocks. Just seems ridiculous there is not a way to re-direct the air flow away from the windshield.

This is the main reason I did not order ACC, besides the fact that one pays $600 for something that should be standard. During midsummer, the ACC does a good job to keep the interior from fogging up. But it is a different story anytime except during midsummer. I have it on my BMW and have to press the front defog button, turn up the temp way up to 80 or higher MANUALLY, and cut the fan (which engages on high when you press the defog button) so it doesn't make so much noise. In the end, it's just easier (or at least no more difficult) to run it with the normal HVAC interface. So in my view, the money for ACC could be better spent on speed yellow seatbelts or whatever else tickles your fancy.
In the short time I have had my Cayman S, I have noticed that when I am using the a/c the cold air starts to build up condensation on the front window. What works is simply changing the direction of air flow to just the vents and not the vents and defogger that comes on automatically.
Try changing the flow of air, it should help.

That is the correct answer. By default, the ACC directs the air to the top vents and the windshield. Making the windshield cold on a hot day creates the condensation. So push the button to direct the air to the front vents and problem is solved.
This is just a bit off the topic. If you turn off the AC or ACC about a mile from home the condenser will drain out This prevents possible mold in the AC system by removing any collected water.
I've noticed this too. My car often fogs the front windshield upon start, but it clears up in seconds. A small annoyance that in my opinion adds character and personallity. Some old sports cars flood, backfire, foul spark plugs, etc.... Mine fogs the windshield.
Same here - when humid the A/C will fog the window on start.
It clears within 10-15 seconds.
My 2003 Boxster S did the same; I suspect it's just a good A/C in a car with a rather small interior volume.
Hi-
I also live in Houston and have a CD with auto-air. On another post, last year, we discussed this in detail, so I'll reiterate: After trying every possible combination with the controls, only one thing seems to work consistantly. In the morning, when the condensation problem is worst (air saturated to the dewpoint), I put the fan on it's lowest setting, it should only show one bar. Set the temp on the coldest setting, 61 degrees. Set the flow direction to either the floor, or directly at you. Make sure (use your hand) that little or no airflow is coming out of the windshield vents. For some reason, with higher fan speeds, there always seems to be some leakage to the windshield, which you want to avoid. I have noticed with these settings, that the car remains at a pleasant temperature, and no condensation forms on the window. BTW, the problem here in Houston is that the cond. forms on the outside of the window when the air conditioning chills the glass. Good luck. Now I have to hunker down and survive Hurricane Ike. What a month this has been! (see my post on "wrecked exotics").
I suffer the same problem when using the auto function, with condensation forming on the outside of the windshield, and like others have said I simply direct the vents only at me or the floor and problem gone.
