Suggestion

It has been said, on this site I believe, that it is possible to over-maintain leather (use too much/too many concoctions) but, with that many cars "in the family" you should have a good idea of what does what to leather.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I meticulously maintain my car...both exterior and interior. I have started noticing one 3" x 3" section on the front edge of the passenger seat looking extremely aged and weathered. Noticeably more so than any part on the driver or passenger side. My car has about 25K miles and the rest of the leather looks brand new. It can't be because of normal wear/tear because there is hardly anyone ever in the passenger seat. If it were "normal" then the driver seat should be doing it too which it is not... Has anyone had a problem like this...will Porsche own up to it?

POST 2Original post

The only way to find out is to take it into your dealer and show it to them. brad

POST 3Original post

Random thoughts posted in moment of boredom. 1. You could check to see if damaged area gets unusually hot with seat heater on. 2. It has been said, on this site I believe, that it is possible to over-maintain leather (use too much/too many concoctions) but, with that many cars "in the family" you should have a good idea of what does what to leather. 3. At 25k miles Porsche would be very generous to do anything: too many unknown possibilities. Does your wife use nail polish remover in the car (I make a small joke).

POST 4Original post

Thanks for your thoughts. I really never sit on the passenger side, so I will check the seat heater. I only use lexol leather cleaner when I do my detailing and I would say I treat it 2-3 times per year. This is the same I have done with all of our cars and have never had this problem. Not married!

POST 5Original post

Yeah, agreed. Just don't have a local dealer anymore and I was hoping to gauge this before driving over an hour...

POST 6Original post

I have this problem on the drivers side waist bolster. I took it to the dealership and they have ordered the part and are going to replace the leather. My car is low mileage 3K so it was deemed to not be wear related but a defect in the leather.

POST 7Original post

That helps! I have more miles for sure, but its good to know its possible. Thanks.

POST 9Original post

No, I don't at this time. I will take one later this afternoon. I made an appt. with the service advisor at one of our dealerships we have "supported" and he thinks they can work something out. He is also letting me take a new DI PDK 911 as my loaner

POST 10Original post

Say Hi to Mitch for me while you are at Woodhouse.... show him your seat as well...

POST 11Original post

Actually, I'm headed to Lujack in the Quad Cities. I haven't dealt too much with Woodhouse...we looking for a GT2 and they wanted 50K for the spot - ouch. However, depending on how it goes at Lujack, I could be headed to Woodhouse and then I will look Mitch up - thanks.
