I've had my
Cayman
for a little over 2 weeks and I'm experiencing a rattle coming from the drivers side door handle area. It may be coming from the door speakers. I have the
Bose system
. It's hard to tell exactly where it is coming from however, it sounds like a loose screw and is definitely metallic in nature. The rattle is more prevalent on rough roads, but it is pretty consistent. I've search the site and haven't found any post regarding rattles coming from the front area of the drivers door. I'll have it looked at when I get a chance to take it to the dealer. Has anyone experienced this rattle? Thanks!
I think that I figured out my door rattle. It wasn't coming from the inside door handle or
Bose
speaker. I found that a small spring clip that puts tension on the outside mirror retainer (the thing that holds the mirror in the folded position) had come off. Therefore, the plastic retainer could rattle. I reattached the spring clip. I'm hopeful that this solves my rattle problem.
has anyone else had this rattle? drivers door from door handle, sounds like metal/loose screw when you hit a bump or reflector on road. i did not get this rattle until i changed my upper door trim surrounding the handle. i have taken the door off 5 times and i still have not corrected the rattle.
p. s. i had the b pillar rattle and know it is not that.
I just got this rattle. I'll be taking the car into the dealer for a fix.
It appears that there is a spring that holds the handle tight in the housing and that this spring has come off, the handle has enough play to cause a rattle when the door is shut or the car goes over a bump.
You may have noticed that if you slightly pull on your door handle the window goes down in preparation for the door opening and that when you release the handle it snaps back into to the housing.
My driver's side handle is clearly "flopping" around, in comparison, with the non-rattling, snap-back passenger's door handle.
This may be an easy fix, but I'll leave it to a "professional" so I don't cobble up the door panel, etc.
The Dealer replaced the Door Opener Assembly under warranty.
Problem solved.
