I think I give this a go next year when the weather is better, and maybe test my technique on the wife's car before touching my baby.

I was going to use Dodo Juice Purple Haze as the LSP but decided to stick to my old fav, Megs Gold Class.

Saying that, is that your first attempt at using a polisher on your car?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It's been ongoing for about 2 weeks due to work commitments, but i finally rolled her out of the garage yesterday.
I bought myself a DA Polisher and thought it was about time I had a go on my little baby. The car's paint wasn't to bad but did have some swirl marks in places. There was also some Random Deep Scratches. All of these were inflicted by the previous owner as I am very careful when washing.
All I can say is that Porsche paint is hard!!! It took ages but I think the result was worth it. All the swirls have gone, wahoooo. There is still some RDS but I can live with that as I would rather have a healthy paint thickness left, and don't have a gauge to check it.
I've done some before and after shots. When i took it out yesterday the weather was pants and doesn't really show the finish of at it's best.
All my mates liked it yesterday and she even looked good after 100 miles.
Right i'm off to have a blatt around KENT, to make the most of the bright weather!!!
Jim
Thanks Chris.
I bought a Kestral DAS-6. Pad wise i used a mix of 4" Sonus SFX and a mix of 7" megs pads for the open panels. The polishes were Megs 83 for the worst areas and 80 to finish it off. I was going to use Dodo Juice Purple Haze as the LSP but decided to stick to my old fav, Megs Gold Class. It's not as durable but i don't mind use it regularly as it's so reflective on Black.
Just been out for a couple of hours and at the end of the run I parked her in a car park whilst eating. The sun was out and I've got to say there wasn't a single swirl in sight. Worth the effort, but I can see why the pro's charge so much as it takes sooooooo much time.
Jim
OMG that looks incredible!
Was this straight forward to do? I'd love to do this to mine as the previous owner didn't treat it right (used the hand washers at ASDA) and it has a few swirls that need attention.
Thanks fellas for your kind words.
Dohnuts, it's very straight forward, just takes a lot of time and effort as the polishes need to be worked for long periods to make the most of their cutting and finishing capabilities.

Car looks great! its amazing what a simple flat polish can do.
Saying that, is that your first attempt at using a polisher on your car? i'm not sure if would be bold enough!
Did you get advice on the pads and adrasive solutions you used. I'd be very weary of cauing more damage than good?
It was my first attempt on the Turbo. I had already tried it out on my daily driver and the other halfs car, lol. However both of those were solid paint, so the clear coat was different to work on.
I got lots of advice on detailing world and Dave G's full guide (Absolutely massive, packed with diagrams, pic's, flow charts for grades of polish, the lot) is an absolute must. All the info you will ever need to know for machine polishing. There are also some good examples of actually doing the exact car on there, so you can get idea.
That all said it's very easy, just takes time and effort with constant assessments of the area worked. Well worth though.

Thanks for the link Jim, it's comprehensive to say the least!
I think I give this a go next year when the weather is better, and maybe test my technique on the wife's car before touching my baby.
