Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

My CS has developed a noise at idel like a cricket like cri cri cri at idle. Clutch action makes no difference. Car works fine, I did a track day yesterday and no problems. Should I be concern about this noise?

POST 2Original post

Mee too. Have noticed it a few weeks ago. If I rev it up a bit, sometimes it disappears. My car is an '06 with 16k miles. Any ideas anyone? Many thanks! w

POST 4Original post

Does it make this noise only when cold and then disappear after the engine warms? Mine makes a noise when cold at idle when I open the throttle a bit that sounds like a creak or maybe a bit like a cricket. It stops within a few minutes of warming up though.

POST 5Original post

Mine does it everytime at idle, even after warmed up. Hope it goes away by itself

POST 7Original post

Mine does this too, normally I notice after I have driven for a while rather than when it is cold. Mine is an 06 with 27,000 miles. I would guess it happens about 20% of the time. Godfrey Speed Yellow 06 CS

POST 8Original post

OMG...I was embarrassed to bring this up until I saw this post. I had 1 occurrence of this but during that drive it clearly was not due to creaky dashboard (although the sound did seem to come from there). Was not pleased when I discovered it. On turning off the engine and restarting it again a while later...it thankfully went away. hope it was a cricket. Does anybody know what caused this? Very clearly audible and can be heared above the engine noise of the car.
