My 08 3.4 has 10,000 miles and (only...wow)6 track days this year. I just checked my PS fluid and I needed to add 4 ounces to reach the cold level mark. 4 carefully measured ounces, by the way. I want to make sure that of my PS fails, there is no question that it WAS NOT due to low fluid.
I used a measuring cup and a flashlight and a funnel. I figure my experience will serve as a control. LOL.
This is the first time I have checked the level. None has been added since new. I will check after every track event and before every track event from now on.
Any thoughts? Is 4 ounces a lot or a tiny amount?
Is this silly since it either gives out completely and leaks or doesn't "use fluid"?
Just getting set for a day at Thunderhill tomorrow.
I'm missing why this is a "complaint"?
"Forum for issues with or complaints about the

I thought power steering failure fell under this category as an "issue", and I would contribute to the knowledge base.
Please move to the more appropriate forum. I have to say that I did look at every forum title and couldn't find one that fits under the "maintenance" category. "Care" seems to be all about detailing.
The funny thing is I really did give quite a bit of thought to where this would fit. LOL.
Help me, SF.
what color is the PS fluid? i think i'm leaking it...
have a small leak under the car of clear/pink tinged fluid....coming off the back of the undertray that meets the front of the oil pan. off center to the passenger side. i'm afraid days are numbered for my PS. anybody can confirm the color of the PS fluid? thanks...
Pentosin CHF 11S - Power Steering Fluid is Light Green........
Just checked the can in my garage with a Cotton Bud
Pink would appear to be Coolant....... (If I am Not Mistaken)
Good Luck.............
thank guys....not sure if i'm relieved or not. i've never overheated. i guess will just keep an eye on it
Ringmeister,
Leaking coolant is not normal. If you continue to notice even occasional leaks or notice you need to add coolant, I would have it checked at the dealer. A number of threads here on coolant system problems and I can testify about the "coolant problem" I had. It took a couple of trips to the dealer and several "explosive" coolant reservoir dumps to get the the problem identified. Don't delay if you see anymore "pink" fluid.
