I think they used defective glue that can't take the heat of the sun.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

5 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I did not see this when I made a careful exam of the car before purchase, how I missed this is beyond me! Anyway, I would like to know if I can repair this myself. I haven't got a manual (yet) and it isn't obvious to me how to get at the problem. It's possible this might have happened after I bought the car so I am not confident I could get it repaired under warranty. Any help from the group is greatly appreciated... See the pic below to see what I'm driving at. More evident at the top left and lower right corners of the light.

POST 2Original post

This is a very common defect. You can almost certainly get it fixed under warranty. I got mine fixed under warranty, but a few months later it did it again.

POST 3Original post

That is exactly like mine was at delivery...I missed it on the inspection. I bought some really small tweezers and tried to "fish" it back in place. I gave up and the dealer fixed it under warranty.

POST 4Original post

Ah, ok. I guess that's on the list for 'um at the end of this month for the periodic maintenance check...

POST 5Original post

Mine was just like that too! Dealer fixed it under warranty.

POST 7Original post

I had the same problem. My local dealer replaced it under warranty.

POST 9Original post

Same here (the 2nd one is faling out now, too.)

POST 10Original post

Don't panic, I missed it too when I picked up the croc. The dealer fixed it the next day and 1 year later it needs to be fixed again. Is there a way for DIY?

POST 11Original post

...plus one more -- may have been there since day one, but haven't had it fixed yet

POST 12Original post

Me too. fixed under warranty. I think they used defective glue that can't take the heat of the sun.

POST 13Original post

Seems to me that the gasket could be tacked to the light housing with some silicon sealant to keep it from moving out of shape but I don't see how to access that area - there are no screws or attaching devices that would make it easy to access...

POST 14Original post

Same thing happened to mine. It's on my dealer's to do list when I bring it in for service later this month.

POST 15Original post

I had the same problem also. Fixed under warranty.
