Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Over the last few days I've been hearing a sound from the right rear of the car. The sound appears to be external and it sound as if it's coming from underneath the car. It is more plastic (or hard rubber) in nature rather than metal. I can hear it over bumps and it is more prominent at lower speeds. I'm almost certain it related to the suspension but have no idea on what level. I do think it's been getting louder. I'm scheduled for first service on Tuesday (car has 5500 miles) and I've asked the dealer to take a look at it. At the same time someone here might have an idea what it could be so I can at least share with the dealer what to look for. Thank you in advance for any constructive opinions. BTW - This will be the fourth warranty claim since purchased (1 year ago). I had the bird chirping when window down on drivers side, low tone on the horn was gone, the bird chirping sound on the passengers side and now this. I'm a bit disapointed......wasn't really expecting this.

POST 2Original post

If it is a clunk type sound and the car was lowered at any time or had suspension work then it could be one of the three nuts that secures the shock tower, or the bolt which secures the hub sleeve to the lower portion of the shock. Do you have PASM, if so does this happen in sport mode? Has the handling changed at all since the noise appeared? You may have a bad shock that is bottoming out on the bump stop, but I doubt it, do you see any oil on the shock body? Check the torque of the lug nuts, your tire air pressures and the wear patterns in the tread all around to rule that out also. Other than that let the dealer figure it out, use your warranty to its full advantage and sorry about your bad luck so far. Good Luck!!

POST 3Original post

thank you for the reply...the car is a stock 2.7 with non-PASM suspension. I do check my tire pressure frequently and its spot on. the handling is unaffected and I'm 100% sure that it's not the suspension bottoming out. If I had to guess, I think it a loose linkage or a bad bolt or washer. Like you said, let the warranty take care of business.
