This is not a probability of success.

Performed · outcome unconfirmed

A warning for those who are contemplating retrofitting the aluminum look door storage bin cover: the cover on the driver's side has developed a network of little cracks, around 1/8 inch long or so, due to the paint used not being flexible enough to resist the pressure of an elbow on the slightly padded cover.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

A warning for those who are contemplating retrofitting the aluminum look door storage bin cover: the cover on the driver's side has developed a network of little cracks, around 1/8 inch long or so, due to the paint used not being flexible enough to resist the pressure of an elbow on the slightly padded cover. It looks terrible- just like a bunch of tiny black worms all over the cover. Suncoast has been good about warranteeing the parts, and will pay for the replacement of the entire door trim package, both sides, with a new wood finish set. If you never rest your elbow on the cover, it may work for you. Otherwise, stay away from this option. It's too bad, as my entire interior has been fitted with the aluminum look and the wood door trim will look a bit out of place now.

Ooh oooh - Can I see a picture of your alumi-look rear center console? I'm thinking of getting this...

POST 3Original post

You might consider talking to the guys at Bumper plugs, who specialize in repainting interior items. They may have a paint formulation that is resistent to this phenomenon.
