Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

I believe the cars that have it dynamically are using a forward-facing camera to read the road signs, advantage being it should account for temp road works/speed limits which may not be in any of the satellite technologies

The salesman told me most of his customers just use Google Maps/Waze, although nearly everyone still options the car with sat nav.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know whether the speed limits shown in the nav are pre programmed with the maps, or whether they are dynamic from GPS, as with Road Angel, Waze etc?

POST 2Original post

Based on my 981 it is a static rather than dynamic speed limit. I believe the cars that have it dynamically are using a forward-facing camera to read the road signs, advantage being it should account for temp road works/speed limits which may not be in any of the satellite technologies

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, that is what I thought. I have just upgraded my maps, and now the 20mph limits locally here are showing. Trouble with static is that they will be out of date very quickly. The camera operated ones are far better - even the lowly Fords have them - come on Porsche, get your house in order.

POST 4Original post

Yes, that is a problem with the 'latest' maps - they are quickly out of date. I read previously the latest map update is ~8 months old on release. When buying my 987, I asked OPC the price for a map update. The salesman told me most of his customers just use Google Maps/Waze, although nearly everyone still options the car with sat nav. I guess it's useful if you're driving on the continent without signal/international data. Clearly, it helps with resale too.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

At least I didn't pay OPC prices for the update. £140 on line. I use my Cayenne a lot in the EU so preferred the nav option rather than lots of data on my phone.
