Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Haven't seen this one yet but got sick of searching after 30 min. I put new aftermarket sensors in the wheels and the car learned them. They were active for 2 days and then the TPMS reports "TPMS Inactive." When I try to pick a different tire size / winter&summer to get the car to enter relearn mode, the display shows "process complete" but doesn't give the "learning" message. Any ideas? Car is 2012 Cayman S . Thanks

POST 2Original post

Have you tried driving it? At least on my 987.1 when TPMS was inactive it would go into learn mode periodically. Changing tire type just got there quicker. I think it took 10 or 15 minutes to learn while driving. Wouldn't learn while stationary. I haven't seen what happened with yours so no ideas there.

POST 3Original post

TPMS can be quite odd. My McLaren suddenly started showing 91 psi in the front left. No problem, the dealer just ordered a new display from England. It arrived in a few months, was promptly installed here and almost as promptly read 91 psi in both fronts and 412 psi in both rears. At least it now has a measure of symmetry.

POST 4Original post

Update: I drove it for at least an hour at highway speeds. I switched back to my summer tires where the sensors have worked for the last 6+ months and they didn't register either. I pulled out my iCARSoft scan tool and could read all the pressures of the sensors and their battery life but nothing would show on the On Board Computer. The scan tool did give an error 8002 - Control Module Fault. Brought it to the dealership since I'm still (barely) in the CPO warranty, and they confirmed it wasn't going into learning mode and ordered a new computer. Odd thing to fail... Have to wait until Dec 13 to see if the new computer fixes the issue. Thanks for the responses.
