Hey I’m not sure if anyone else has this problem, but I’ve looked at a few 986 S and each one has an issue with the side view mirrors not adjusting when using the controls.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey I’m not sure if anyone else has this problem, but I’ve looked at a few 986 S and each one has an issue with the side view mirrors not adjusting when using the controls. My base model has the same issue and it’s a little frustrating. Any suggestions on how to fix?

POST 2Original post

Oddly enough, yes. My right side/US passenger mirror didn't work when I first bought the car. It turned out the plug had come out of the socket. The dealer was sure I needed a new motor, etc. +/- $400. I actually bought a used one from itsanova and started to X/O myself. That's when I discovered it was unplugged. Plugged back in and viola, movement.

Lol that dealer was trying to snake you!

POST 4Original post

I changed my LHS mirror motor when I bought the car. It was a super easy repair. I think I got he part for about US$70. When I looked at the broken parts, they've got some plastic gears that crack with age (and when you accidentally hit the mirror glass).

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
