I've just replaced my 15 year old, rusting at the seams, but not blowing pse and the old one has an Eisenmann plate on it.

I replaced the actuators (well, one actually) on my PSE with a Designtek one from Design911.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Morning all
I know we've had loads and loads of exhaust threads and I'm loathed to start another one – but I do so to see if I can get a different set of replies (see what I did with the thread title....!)
I know I'm going to need a new exhaust soon and, knowing I'll never want to sell this car, I'm going to invest good money in making sure I get a good one.
So – two quick questions if I may.
1. Can we get a full list of the most prominent manufacturers and put them in quality order; for example we have Kline, Top Gear, Dansk etc – can we make (say) a top 10 or top 6 and put them in order of quality (NOT price!)
2. Secondly who manufactured PSE boxes for Porsche and did I see recently that someone was trying to do a group buy ...?? Anyone remember/have a linky to the thread...??
Currently I'm thinking of getting new headers and down pipes, 200-cell cats and replacement PSE boxes and having the whole lot ceramic treated before fitting
Any thoughts and input gratefully received...

Dansk were the manufacturer of the exhaust for Porsche on the 996 (and 993 I think) cars.
I had a Kline on my old 4s which was so good I then bought one for my turbo as you know.
If it were me (and knowing how you like PSE) I'd be looking to see if Dansk still did a PSE system and getting that. Failing that I'd look at Porsche PSE back boxes, then Kline boxes and x-pipes.
I've recently discovered that the DesignTek system from D911 sounds identical to a non-PSE stock exhaust and is fully stainless. Quite nice but not PSE nice.

worst case is around £200 per side a lot cheaper than a aftermarket
that is my plan when mine starts to blow.
Just get yourself down to Bridport have a lovely day by the sea and let Topgear sort it all out for you. Great exhausts lovely people and best of all great prices.
Just my tuppence worth, I'd be happy with an Akraprovic exhaust for my 997.1 but they don't do one, the only other one I'd have is a genuine Porsche one after that, mine has been in for the past 12 years and it's still going strong so to replace that with something that the hangers are going to drop off of in 18 months would really grip my sheet !
I couldn't be bothered arguing about warranty claims on a cheap system so I'd hope that a replacement gen system 'PSE" of course would last at least another 12 years,
Eisenmann did the original pse exhaust for the 996.2 at least. I've just replaced my 15 year old, rusting at the seams, but not blowing pse and the old one has an Eisenmann plate on it. I've stumped up for a genuine Porsche replacement, partly for originality and partly because I like the sound. If the old one was still going after fifteen years, the quality must be alright too.

Szymon fit some switchable boxes on his C4S last year and I must say - it sounds rather nice. They were a bargain price too - think he paid something like £600 for the full set-up.
Was that the Spyder performance ones? Ive got the Topgear 200 cell x-pipe with mild rear silencers. Been pretty pleased with them after 3-4000miles. Saying that I am contemplating going louder.
So my preferred solution to keep the original PSE setup is to get the seams welded and new vacuum actuators, trouble is actuators are circa £137 each with Porsche tax. Has anyone got a more cost effective supplier of these?, thanks.
I replaced the actuators (well, one actually) on my PSE with a Designtek one from Design911. Only £37+VAT.

Works absolutely fine, but the only caveats are that the rod is not as long as OE, and they don't come with a ball joint, which would have been OK but the old one crumbled at the thread on removal.
A clever friend of mine welded the old ball joint onto a couple of bolts, which he threaded on to the rod, to get it to the right length. If you could find a new ball joint that had a longer sleeve then that would also get round it.
But yes, I also intend to get the seams welded on my OE PSE boxes when the time comes (PCW Exhaust Mods apparently do a great job).
Capristo exhausts sound absolutely fantastic on Ferraris... if they make 996 exhausts they would be worth considering.
