- i'm going to use a fuse tap with 2 fuse holder, and a 12v-5v dc to dc converter with 2 usb outputs (one for dashcam, one for a phone charging lead).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hey folks, going to add a circuit to my 996 using one of the commonly available fuse taps, i've been poking the fuses and my current fuse/circuit of choice is windscreen wipers (c6), a few questions; - i'm going to use a fuse tap with 2 fuse holder, and a 12v-5v dc to dc converter with 2 usb outputs (one for dashcam, one for a phone charging lead). - which side of the fuse holder in the 996 is hot? - can anyone share how htey installed it? - there are multiple unused fuse slots in my car for options that it doesn't have, with 1 connector inside the slot rather than 2. I assume i shouldn't use one of those? Any advice welcome, trying to make sure i don't blow things up / set the car on fire

POST 2Original post

There are proper connector blocks in the relay board for power distribution. If you don't need a separate fuse for the item I would go from here, much neater. MC

POST 3Original post

If you do need a fuse, why not just use an unused slot in the fuse board. Might just be me, but I really don't like 'bodges' like this. MC

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmm... which board? I would prefer a fuse, just in case.
