And yes it already has bumper plugs, which I was glad as Louisiana uses just a rear plate.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all. I am new to the forums and just purchased a 2000 arena red coupe. I love the car, such balance between smooth driving and power. This is my third Porsche. I have a 1982 928 I use for foul weather driving and doing D.E.'s with. I recently sacrificed my 1953 Pre-A 356 in order to obtain the 996. I have no regrets. I loved the 356, but found I did not drive it much and Porsches are meant to be driven no matter the age, so I decided to trade up. I am good at working on Porsches and do a lot of the work on the cars in our local PCA chapter, so I am looking forward to a few mods. As you can see I already did the clear markers. And yes it already has bumper plugs, which I was glad as Louisiana uses just a rear plate. Well I just thought I would introduce myself and the car. I am going to try and load some pics now. Jim 1982 Silver 928 2000 Arena Red 996

POST 2Original post

Great car! Congratulations. I love the painted console. That must be some Porsche-driving contrast: the 356 to the 996? Were the clear markers as easy to do as it seems they are? CP

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I took about 2 minutes to do. They literally pop out from the rear and just clip the new ones in. If you pull on the edge of the light at the fender oening you can pull the old lights right out. I gave the new lights a little extra tension on the metal clips before I put them back in just to be sure they don't pop out. JIM

POST 5Original post

Congrats on the new car and welcome to 996 ownership!!

POST 6Original post

Welcome and nice car. Keep us updated with the mods.

POST 7Original post

Welcome!! Love the color.... must be rare.... can't recall seeing any 996's in that shade.

POST 8Original post

Congrats on the new car! I am new to the 996 as well. Arena Red is still my favorite Porsche color and your car looks like it is in terriffic shape.

POST 9Original post

Congratulations on new 996. Painted console, bumper-plugs, clear sides, carbon fiber...I'm impressed. Welcome.

POST 10Original post

Jim did you buy your car from Aspen Mountain in Santa Fe? If so you bought my dads old car. He traded the Arena Red C2 for a Meridian Silver 03 C2 Cab. He loves the unique colors. His relationship with them go back 25 years. PM me if it's the same car I can put you in contact with my Dad. The car had a laundry list of interior options.

POST 14Original post

Car looks great nice carbon. I have the same tip wheel and carbon fiber package. Now go for some mods!!! You need to get the painted bumperettes for bumper plugs!!!

POST 15Original post

Congrats on the sweet color combo, I was going to ask if that car was from Delta Porsche in Grand Rapids, Michigan. If not, I've been drooling over it's identical twin (even down to the chrome wheels). Come and visit the 928 section on this board too!

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The car was bought at Aspen Mountain motors in Santa fe , new mexico. SANDOVAL yes it is your dad's old car. I have already talked to him about the car. He made the decision so much easier for me as he confirmed the car to be a solid reliable car. I too love the color (the main reason for this buying this car). I have translated the list of options from under the hood and found all 31 except this one... 236? Any ideas what 236 is? I was able to track the other 30 down with the help of this forum but have not seen this code listed. Just thought I would ask. JIM

POST 17Original post

Great car! I love the arena red - thanks for sharing the photos.

POST 18Original post

Welcome Jim and congratulations on the new 996.

POST 19Original post

I wanted an arena red and couldnt find one close by- love your car

POST 20Original post

wow that is one spotless Carrera. Timing is everything (what's the mileage?) I'd add one of those steering wheel crests I see on Ebay for $10. Makes the four spoke look much better IMHO.

POST 21Original post

Small world! I know you will love that car. The color looks amazing. That was a very expensive C2 when new. I think there is over 20K in interior options. Enjoy your new car!

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I really like the embossed crest on the steering wheel as it matches the crests in the headrests. the mileage is just over 64000 now. I put just over 1000 miles on it bringing it home from new mexico. I couldn't find any arena reds close by either but the internet is always close by. there were a few to choose from when I was looking but not with the options I wanted. Had to have supple leather and tiptronic. All the other options were just icing on the cake. SANDOVAL, even smaller world. The 356 I sold to get this car is in Albuqurque. Steven(who bought the car) is in the Road runner region of PCA with your dad.

POST 23Original post

Very nice, welcome. Mine also was delivered today and I am working on photos.
