Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I tried unsuccessfully to clean off the haziness but the buildup material is rock hard and I'm afraid to scratch the lens.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a strange haziness on the outside of the right headlight. It's on the outside of the lens rather than the inside and is only on the right headlight. The lens on the left headlight is as clear as a bell. I tried unsuccessfully to clean off the haziness but the buildup material is rock hard and I'm afraid to scratch the lens. Anybody have an idea of what this material might be and how I might remove the buildup? Is this perhaps the uv protection breaking down?

POST 2Original post

Yes, that's the clear coat breaking down. Get some Meguiars Plast-X and an orbital polisher. Polish it with the Plast-X and orbital for 5 minutes or so and it will look much, much better. It will eventually have to be sanded down and refinished.

POST 3Original post

I've had good luck with Novus plastis polish. They make a #1,2 &3. The number two has a touch of abrasive and would be my choice to get rid of the haze. I've brought some old motorcycle windshields back form the dead with it.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
