Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, has anyone had a go at replacing the tappets/lifters? My 119k miles Boxster S needs at least a couple changing. The exhaust manifold bolts look as if they will snap at the first turn so I'm wondering if I'd be just as well removing the engine for easier access.

POST 2Original post

Access is your main issue. getting the cam covers and camshafts off in situ is doable, but very tight. If get the engine out, doing the manifold bolts will be easier, but some will still snap. Depends how good you are with the spanners, but I removed mine and completely rebuilt it on the drive/garage without a lift. Happy to give any pointers.
