Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Anyone have recommendations for street pads? I don't plan on tracking any time soon, maybe some local autocrossing every now and then. I put brembo pads on with new rotors when I was rebuilding the engine and they work fine, but they dust like crazy. I washed the car last weekend and there's already a solid coat of brake dust on the wheels in less than a hundred miles of driving. Good thing my wheels are black. What are you guys running?

Hawk HPS 5.0 have been great for me. Noticable upgrade over the Textar pads that were on my 06 Cayman S when I bought it. Some fresh fluid and stainless lines made a big difference as well. The pads are pretty quiet, less dusty, and have much better initial bite.

I put some Hawk Performance Ceremic pads on a while ago. I don't believe in one pad fits all and since 95% of my driving is on the street, I wanted a pad I can still have some fun with, but with less dusting. I will admit I wasn't a fan when I first installed them, but I have come to enjoy them. Driving thru the mountains of Colorado, I've never overheated them. The initial bit is comfortable for me, but the stopping power does increase slightly when you put some heat into them. It's not a big deal, but it does catch me off guard every now and then. I wouldn't call these pads "ultra low dusting" like Hawk advertises. The dust is more brownish than the OEM Textar's, but (and it's an important but) it does wash off with a hose. Would I buy them again, probably. Check back in 75,000 miles or so. Good Luck.

Just ordered a set of fronts from Tirerack. On sale and $10 rebate. Thanks for the recommendation. Shawn in VA (USA) View attachment 285968

FWIW, coming late to this discussion, but I put on new slotted rotors and hawk HP+ pads, because I'm familiar with the pads on other cars. there is dust but very little noise and potent torque. these are street/track pads so not anywhere near as good as a trackpad but definitely a step up. I just like the confidence they give me because the grip is so hard compared to street pads.
