Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 2Original post

Hi Wayne, I live in Trinidad in the Caribbean and just bought a 997 C2. The ambient temperature varies from 25 to 32 degrees C. I am about to change the water pump. Is there any good reason for me to have the thermostat at all? Surely I need to remove it completely and toss it in the bin. What are your thoughts on this matter? Regards, Zak

POST 3Original post

modern cars need thermostat to get to operating temperature and stay there, about 190F. Without a thermostat, your engine may never get to that temperature and the engine management system will make the car run incorrectly. It will not be good in the long run.
