Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hey guys, so I was driving home from dinner last night and coming to a stop light I downshifted from 4th to 3rd and heard a pretty loud pop/bang never heard the noise before. Wanted to get some insight as to what it could have been. 07 C S. Thank you for your input

POST 2Original post

I would check your engine and drivetrain mounts and check that your half shaft flanges have all the bolts in there and that they are snug. I hope that helps. Hard to tell from the description but those are things that could do that.

POST 3Original post

Was it an exhaust pop or something mechanical (suspension, etc.)? I have occasional burbles/pops on downshifts (completely mechanically stock 987.1 ) and as long as it doesn't throw a CEL, it's likely fine. I had a CEL come on a few weeks after it first started happening for a small misfire, which I cleared and it never came back, so it was likely a one-off error where something was out of wack and unrelated to the burbling. My mechanic advised me that it's likely a small exhaust leak before the resonator/muffler. I'm shopping for an aftermarket exhaust system anyways, so I'm not awfully concerned with it.

POST 4Original post

This also just came to me, but I also had a pulley shatter/explode and shred my serpentine belt a few weeks ago while driving and it sounded like an explosion. Check the front of your motor through the service hatch.

POST 5Original post

If it was an exhaust sound, it was probably what my indie calls a " Porsche fart." I have a 2010 BS with some enhancements and I kinda enjoy that sound. Joe Henley

OP hasn't even logged back in since making this first post three weeks ago, so questionable if the account is even legit?
