The stereo sounds much better now and the front speakers don't sound harsh like before , but I noticed the aftermarket speakers require a higher volume setting on the oem radio than the original speakers.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Swapped my front speakers for some alpine 410 speakers yesterday. The stereo sounds much better now and the front speakers don't sound harsh like before , but I noticed the aftermarket speakers require a higher volume setting on the oem radio than the original speakers. Both before and after are driven by an aftermarket alpine amp. Is this normal? I estimate while before I had the radio at 15, to get the same volume overall it now needs to be maybe 22... Like I said I'm pleased with the sound overall I just want to make sure I didn't do something wrong. Joe

POST 3Original post

Sensitivity rating, e.g. dB/watt. A 6 dB lower rating requires twice the power for the same volume

Yeah I'm that's prob what it comes down to
