Suggestion

I thought most main dealers were keen to do the "free" MOT themselves so they can check for after market wipers and other safety issues.

Suggestion

I think almost all OPCs sub-contract MoT inspections: They cannot justify the extortionate costs of running a modern MoT bay to do one or two cars a week.

the mot was invoiced from the porsche dealer, but they use the adjacent land rover dealership for the mot, which is part of the same group, but i dropped the car off at porsche and collected it from porsche so my deal was with them so im away to head through and wait for them to open, was just wondering if anyone else had experienced anything similar and how they got on.

yeah thats the dealer, i have never had a problem either, so was very surprised, so i went in first thing and met the service manager, who was really helpful and a decent guy, the problem seems to have come from when it was next door in the land rover garage, i have no problem what so ever using the porsche side again, he couldnt do enough to help.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had my car in to my local porsche dealer for its mot today, went to pick it up late on after work just as they were closing, to be found with the following problems, the stereo was no longer working, its displaying, but its just like frozen, (it was working up until the second i left the car) so messing around with it i pushed the map button, came up wrong disc, so i thought how can that be, ejected it to find a music cd that was lying on the rear footwell in the sat nav slot, sat nav disc GONE and no life from stereo, tried phoning but everyone was away, so i came home and read the mot cert, they have put the mileage down as 79000, when the car has done 49000 miles, so that will now bring up mileage discrepencies, anyone have any idea how i stand? im planning to head down to the dealer at 8 am and wait for them to open, im absolutely raging, expected better from a main porsche dealer.

POST 2Original post

Sorry to hear that. Sadly reinforces my paranoia about leaving my car for any work with anyone. Do the OPC do MOT in house or farm out to "normal" MOT station? Not that that changes anything. Hope you get it sorted and they comp you something.

POST 4Original post

I think almost all OPCs sub-contract MoT inspections: They cannot justify the extortionate costs of running a modern MoT bay to do one or two cars a week. On the MoT document itself, it should have the stamp of the business that actually did the test... If that is not the same name and address as the OPC you have your answer. But, if you actually paid and have a receipt from, the OPC, then it is entirely their responsibility. Just a thought - have you checked your music CD slot to see if your Nav disc is there? :?:

POST 7Original post

You left the car in their care, and they invoiced you for the work If the MOT station caused any of the issues, thats their problem, not yours They need to return the car to the condition it was in when you left it

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

just been in and was deling with the service manager who was really helpful, they took the car in and have the sat nav working and got the head unit working, but found it was a problem with the cd changer, which was also fine when the car went in, so they have disconnected it and have ordered me a new one which they will fit when it comes in, they also refunded the mot cost. so luckily it has all been sorted out with no problems, but it was the other dealer who has messed about with the car.

POST 9Original post

MOT These places normally have a "junior" who sits in the car and put the lights on,indicators, brakes etc - must have got too excited playing around inside your car! Just out of interest what is your car? Regards Jonathan

POST 10Original post

Would their name happen to rhyme with 'Down & Bounty' (I'm keen to preserve the sense of mystery in this thread)? If so, my experience has always been very good - the Service Manager in particular is top notch.

POST 11Original post

What about the mileage discrepancy? Has that been sorted?

POST 12Original post

hehehe, thats exactly what i thought too afterall whats the chances of an OPC dealer being nextdoor to their LandRover franchise
