Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

although, they are tightening up a little more I've heard becasue of all the red-light running cameras that need a front plate to ID the car.
Leading evidence: 'Run cameras' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run cameras' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

K-Man or Anyone,
I am going to ask my dealer not to drill the front license plate holes, but he told me this is how it comes from the factory, are these the dimples you mentioned or did someone actually drill small hole there?
Russ
This is a picture I took a couple of weeks ago at my dealer. Unless the lighting has some effect, it appears to me that the dimples look more painted over on my picture. Dealer today told me that by default, they do not drill the dimples.
Russk,
Repeat after me, the factory does NOT drill holes, there are just those tiny dimples from the factory but they are NOT holes. If they become holes it is because the dealer drills them out to make way for a front plate.
Dealer drills out holes in those states where front plates are mandatory, either for licence plates or for public announcements about your kid's status on the school honor roll. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/wink_smile.gif But then again, I doubt if many soccer moms will make this their vehicle of choice./fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/teeth_smile.gif
Russ
Am I detecting a hint of rebelion here? /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/taunt.gif/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/omg_smile.gif Or are you planning an alternate way of mounting your 'required' front plate?
kmns,
Since I ordered my
Cayman
I have been looking closely at every
Porsche
I see, and most of them DO NOT have their front plate on the car, and there is no question taht it looks better without it. Soooooo, I am thinking of doing the same and I will just have the front plate handy in case I get pulled over for it.
Aloha Russ
That's what I also intend to do.
I will say sorry officer my plate just fell off, it is in the boot, I will refit it properly (unlike the
porsche
garage) when I get home.I hope he /she does not look too closely and say how was it fixed as you only have 'dimples' I suppose if this does happen I will say velcro.
You guys make me laugh. But I would probably do the same thing. Why not stick a velcro strip on the back of the plate so it is more convincing that you had it on before the velcro malfunction. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thumbsup.gif
I took the front plate off of my
boxster
and I'm one of the few people I have known, the only actually, to have gotten a ticket for it, regardless that I had the plate in the car. But I did have the car 6 years, and one ticket wasnt too bad. How many states require front plates? Texas, Hawaii, and who else?
It seems like more states do than don't require front plates. Mine does, but after I had my front bumper resprayed a few years ago, I must have forgotten to reinstall the front mount & plate. I can only guess all the cops I've driven past have liked the cleaner look since none has chosen to stop me. I plan to go plateless in my
Cayman
& hope my luck continues.
BTW, an alternative may be to mount the front plate below the bumper in front of the middle opening.

Front plates are required in CA but I'd say 75% of people with P-cars don't put them on. None of the folks at PCA events that I go to ever mention getting tickets for no front plate, so I guess the police have better things to do... although, they are tightening up a little more I've heard becasue of all the red-light running cameras that need a front plate to ID the car.
My dealer says they ask the buyer first. I have a front plate on my 2002 turbo because it already had the plate on it when new on the lot for some reason. You can also get the bumperplugs from bumperplugs.com that will match your paint color.
Brad
kmns,
Very good idea about the velcro. I am not sure that I would be able to fool a cop with that story, but it is better than no story at all. Frankly I just wish I had the car, with or without the plate! I saw another video today on MSN with one of the designers talking about the
Cayman
and it had my mouth watering. Can't take much more.
