They supplied me with a disc that allows my PCM1 to read Vauxhall / Opel maps - lets me run 2009 maps for a fraction of the cost Mr Porsche asks.

If so, it is 8-bit and you are limited to the Porsche map set, I believe.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi
Just bought a 996 turbo with a PCM 1 system. Its missing some disks. Anyone here got the disks and would not mind doing a copy.
I believe in an american forum the moderator allowed this since they are no longer offered by Porsche to Navteq which is a pain in the @%&£.
cheers
Nick
PS pics to come up soon of new car.
You CAN get new maps for PCM1 from Porsche - well, late 2008, which is new for Porsche.
Part Number 000.044.900.96 - £401.99 inc VAT. (8 CD Set).
Do a bit of Googling and eBaying (WW search) as you'll probably come up with a cheaper alternative.
If your PCM1 is the later 16-bit version you can also get a UK map from Quicksilver Automotive in Birmingham - Gil Keane - 0121 773 7000.
Is it worth getting updated maps? And is it true that there is no postcode search on PCM1 8 bit?
Might as well get a tom tom hard wired in for similar money.
Was your Turbo built pre-January 2001? If so, it is 8-bit and you are limited to the Porsche map set, I believe. If it is post 01/01 then it is 16-bit, and you have the cheaper option of Quicksilver. There are one or two threads on this forum, so it is worth doing a search to see what people think of them.
Alternatively, if you don't have/want the Porsche warranty, you could also consider ripping it out and put a decent double-DIN system in.
Try googling "Quicksilver" part of SatNavShop.com and give the guys there a call.

So you got you runaround turbo then
. Trust the Fezza is still going ok but you will soon find out the tt is a faster car :floor:
For what it is worth I would ditch the PCM1 and put in a double din unit which will do everything so much better.
Without having bought it myself yet, I would warmly recomend the Pioneer AVIC-F10BT (
http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/25/111/241/AVIC-F10BT/index.html
).
I have previously owned one of it's 1-DIN predecessors (AVIC-X1BT) and was very satizfied. Also the reviews I have read about the F10BT have been very positive (
http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2009/11/review-pioneer-avic-f10bt-in-dash-satnav-system/
).
I would combine the headunit with this 2-DIN kit from Euro Motorspeed:
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-99-02-Porsc...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5ad267e8b5
. Have read a few reviews of the kit too, saying it works perfectly...
I have already ordered the 2-DIN kit, and am saving up for the head unit now. Looking forward to get it installed...
