I spent some time visiting with Wayne and Hans at the RUF center in Dallas, TX today. Both individuals are looking forward to the Cayman's arrival and RUF already has some items in the works. In fact Wayne was kind enough to share the following image with me that shows their Kompressor offering for the Cayman as well as some 19' RUF wheels that are available. There will be more items coming for the Cayman soon, so stay tuned. If you are interested in either of these please contact Wayne directly at
www.rufautocenter.com
and tell him that you heard it here on the Cayman Club site as they are considering a sponsorship/advertising here.
I should also mention that Wayne gave us a tour of the facility and it is quite nice. They even have a RUF accessories cabinet and I noticed they have a pair of high heels with a RUF logo for your wife/girlfriend/mistress as need be. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/tounge_smile.gif
I was going to buy a RUF hat, but not yellow ones in stock... very impressive cars there to say the least, did I say that already???
This is one aftermarket supplier that I trust. Prehaps this can get me back the hp lost at my altitude of 7000'. Cost will probably be less than trading in my Cayman for the latest model in a few years when Porsche introduces more hp.
That is making medrool ... did they give you any idea of how much HP increase it might be worth? Cost?
No discussion of cost, but HP is 80-100 range.
are they also developing a NA kit as well?
gotta love checking out that green - nothing like that standard for our alligator.
No, I asked about intakes, exhaust, etc. and was told No, they were doing the Kompressor, body kit and suspension/wheels for starters. If there is demand they might consider something else. I suggested they consider ECU tuning since all signs point to the Cayman getting something out of it at this point.
That is awesome! What's ball-park pricing on that? Should be less than the $40k or so for the 3.8 engine swap....
Email I received regarding pricing:

The price of the Kompressor on the 997 is $22,500 (this includes the 2 year warranty on both the Kompressor components and the engine). We expect it to be very similar for the Cayman. The Kompressor will add at least 80hp. The 3.8 conversion is $39,500 installed (365-370hp). This includes an engine from Porsche, the core charge (so you can subtract about $3,000 if you want to trade the stock engine back into Porsche), RUF exhaust (headers, cats, mufflers), RUF tuned 997S ECU, all RUF installation hardware, RUF wiring harnesses and labor. The Kompressor with the 3.8 should be about $59,000 (about 435hp).
