On one occasion, they accidentally disconnected a vacuum pipe, resulting in a loss of power when I tried to accelerate 10 miles down the road.

And in my experience they don’t always do what you pay for and most of the time it’s only an oil change and the rest is the apprentice with a clip board checking things like depth of tyre etc but failing to change the air filter as who is going to check especially on low miles cars!

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've got a 992 C2S coming up to 4 years old and it's first major service.
Has anyone had a similar service done at an OPC recently?
Just wondering what you paid?
I know I'll need to phone around a few dealers for prices but it would be handy to have some idea of cost beforehand.
Thanks in advance....

I thought first service was at 2 years ?
No idea on price, but if you're calling dealers I'd ask if you can supply your own oil, it'll save you quite a bit of £££ if you can.
Some dealers are open to it and I've done this a few times on other Porsches and OPC's.

Minor at 2 years, Major at 4 years.
Cheers that will teach me to read properly

I used to supply my own but Porsche put a stop to it a couple of years back. Big profit on oil

I took my oil to my Porsche dealer last week when it was serviced. No issues at all.
You were very lucky there has been an official letter sent out from Porsche to OPC's which I was shown when I kicked up.
A friend of mine just got his 8 year service discounted at Colchester down to £1179.00 from £1414.00, East London even though same dealer group quoted him £1832.00
This was for a 991.2 GTS, but still a massive difference in prices for the same work.
I just had mine done and paid 1550. My friend also had his done and was 1480
The parts cost is only 400. Major cost is labour at usual crazy rate
Hope this helps.

When it gets discounted, do you worry the work is sub standard ?

What a coincidence! Had my 992 C2S 4 year service plus MOT done at Porsche Silverstone today. Cost was an eye watering £1,700 ish. Couple of recalls done too, and super friendly service department, also included courtesy car for the day.
Jon
So £2k for a service, what’s that £200-300 for parts and £1700-1800 for a couple of hours labour?
I remember it wasn’t that long ago a minor (2year) was circa £450-500 and a major (4 year) about £850

Which OPCs was this at please? For you and your mate?
My 992S is nearing 4 years old so I’m watching this thread with interest!

Morning
Mine was Edinburgh and my friend Guildford. Ironic that Surrey was cheaper than Edinburgh. Go figure ??
Thank you. That’s helpful.
Seems a bit if a trend since Covid of manufacturers having your pants down on service costs. My Mercedes diesel pick up is over £1000 for it's 2nd service - bonkers. I remember a few years ago you could service a Porsche for well under a grand, and I actually think Porsche will shoot themselves in the foot with this level of ownership costs. It's not justified and doesn't get me wanting another.
Many Porsches owned and never paid over 1k for a service but the last gt3 service was over 2k ,it’s an utter pee take and has nothing to do with anything other than greed .
A standard 992 service including oil change and filters with an inspection is around £350+VAT at my local centre. I have had 3 of them. They are supposed to be annually or at 20k.
The major service was at least 4 hours, and the spark plugs are a right fiddle with little room between the engine and the frame to get at the coil packs. They seem to flush the brake fluid out with loads of new and also did the wiper blades, cabin and air filters washer fluid etc.
Interestingly at 50,000 miles, my brakes discs are still OK with only light scoring and the pads at only 50% worn. Maybe I am a wuss.
So far- for a car that has been timed at 3.5 seconds to 60 mph and that often achieves 34mpg and doesn't seem to depreciate much, the whole ownership cost has been better than just about anything else I have owned. Even tyres have been pretty good at an average of £1k a set. They have lasted 15-20,000 miles.
I have a 992 GTS coming up for its first service (two years, just over 7,000m) next month and so I have tried West London, Reading and High Wycombe for quotes.
Quotes are for the two year minor inc oils and filter, brake fluid and to lubricate sunroof (I have the glass roof which is apparently lubed every two years) and all inc VAT. They have come in at £1,268, £1,198 and £1,118 respectively.
That cost is exorbitant for a minor service for a 2-year-old vehicle. As I recall, Porsche GB owns the dealerships in Reading, West London, and Guildford, which generally means their prices are on the higher side. I've visited Brooklands 2-3 times for service. On one occasion, they accidentally disconnected a vacuum pipe, resulting in a loss of power when I tried to accelerate 10 miles down the road. This incident does raise some concerns about their expertise, but their service charges were significantly lower than those at Reading.
PS - never heard of a sunroof lube having a material impact on the price of a service, only Porsche eh!

Audi charge as well for Pano roof lube, similar price. Never took the service up on my old RS4. Never had issues.
