I know it is a common colour but i wanted artic on my car, the only other option i considered was basalt black but the idea of keeping it clean bugged me.

Hey guys, I have a 04 996 targa, and just out of sheer boredom at the office today, I wondered what is the proper name for the colour of it. :? It isnt a straight silver, but has more of a pink or champagne colour shimmer through it. The guy I bought it from said it was "moondust silver", and they produced a few of them, although I have only ever seen 1 boxster in it. Anyone know?

Silver on the 993/996 came in three shades AFAIK Artic - Your common garden variety Polar - Bluey tinge Meridian - Slightly pinky in certain light. I had a Meridian Silver 996 Targa a few years ago and got a little mickey taking on this forum because of the colour. Do a search on the word pink and invariably there will be some reference to me :roll: Having said that though, had I found a Meridian Turbo when I was looking for my current 911 I would have been very tempted

Thanks gents... Yep, Meridian Silver it is... but hey I am comfortable in my sexuality... the banter from my mates, means the "pink porsche" tag is here to stay until I upgrade I feel.

My old one was affectionately called the Pink Peril. I think it is a cracking colour and wish I had something a little less common than Artic Silver now.
