It does not appear to have lost any water but the garage used same colour as previously (blue)!

I have a 2005 996 C 2 and the coolant was topped up a month ago,blue, however it has lost it's colour and now look slightly brownish! No leaks and no major amounts of sludge in the oil filler pipe. I tend to do short journeys in the week so would expect a small amount of sludge! Can anyone give me a lead on this? I was wondering if the water oil cooling matrix could be the problem. The car is garaged and there is no water on the garage floor front or rear. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers Steve

mixing blue and red makes the coolant go a brownish colour,have you lost any water since you topped up?

Hi I'm no expert but i'm sure you should be using the red coolant in your 996. Maybe there was red in there originally and it has been mixed?

Many thanks for that Dave - lets hope that this is all it is. The car has only covered 33K and has only had one owner with all the main dealer history etc. Anyway i have it booked into the garage on Tuesday. I expect that they will flush the system and replace the coolant. Cheers Steve

Get them to pressure test the system as well while its in the garage - this should show up any potential sweating or leaks.
