POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Guys, I have asked you for advice before and I come again. Its getting close to that point where I am ready to make my purchase. After lots of research, I seem to be confusing myself more and more. Now, I am considering between a 99/98' NSX or a 99/00' 996. The performance is closely matched on both cars, but the Porsche obviously has a better brand name. The NSX seems to be much more reliable and less expensive to maintain. Being that I'm only 23, and have a monthly allocation of $1300 dollars for car payments/insurance/main costs.....what do you guys think is a better purchase decision?

POST 2Original post

You're asking the Porsche board. Of course we are going to say the Porsche. I would check rates on both cars with your insurance company first though. The NSX is a fine car but it's not a 911. If you can squeeze an extended warranty into your budget to protect against catostrophic repairs you will be fine with the Porsche. Whatever you do, don't buy either car from a Ford dealer.

POST 3Original post

I'd go with an NSX because of your age and budget constraint. NSX is damned reliable just like their honda accord and there are a lot of acura/honda shops out there to fix any problems you run into. Porsche maintainence and repairs are far costlier. Although I've had no problems with my 996, Acura has a better reputation for long term repairs. Bobby

POST 4Original post

the NSX has the exotic factor, it is special to some extent, but the reason you don;t see more is because not many people can justify spending 80k on a hyped up jaapnese car. for 1300, if you have a steady job, you can afford to lease instead of financing, thereby opening up a great amount of different choices. shop around.

POST 5Original post

If cash is tight, neither. A single off-warranty repair could bust your annual budget. NSX's are reliable, but some models have had significant transaxle failures. If you can't handle a quick 5K repair, buy something with a warranty- like a new C6. By the way, just drove a new MB SL320 (the 6 cylinder car-if I got the number wrong). With the AMG wheel package, the car is a startling performer. Much better than I expected. That one might fit your budget with an predictable monthly expenditure. AS

POST 6Original post
the NSX has the exotic factor, it is special to some extent, but the reason you don;t see more is because not many people can justify spending 80k on a hyped up jaapnese car.
I disagree partially. NSX was an unbelievable car when it came out and is still a great car today. Its just that nobody can justify paying that much for a 13 year old chassis, design and technology, when there are a lot of alternatives out there including the 996/997, not because it is some hyped up japanese car. In my opinion, the japanese make the best cars in the world with some of the most cutting edge of technologies. Can't wait to see the new NSX even though there are rumors it will get cut. Bobby

POST 7Original post

As for the financial issue, you are looking at two different price ranges... a '99/'00 C2 usuallyl runs anywhere between $35k-$45k and a '98/'99 NSX will run in the $45k-$55k range. I think you need to figure out how much you want to spend first. Good luck.

POST 8Original post

if you have financial constraints, both cars are bad choices. although nsx has slightly better rep for reliability, IF it breaks down, it will still cost you. furthermore, it eats rear tires much faster than porsches and those tires at 500-600 a pair will hurt after a while. chitownbob is right. nsx was an amazing car when it came out more than a decade ago and even today it IS still amazing. i don't have the actual number, but driveline loss is essentially nil on that car. rwhp is almost the same as hp at flywheel. so a stock nsx has almost as much hp as 996c2. and it is far better balance than any 911. i am not saying one's better than the other (it's a personal choice thing) but nsx is not a hyped up japanese car. it's a great piece of engineering.

POST 9Original post

In the last 6 years I owned a 91 NSX for 2.5 years, then a 98 NSX for 2 years, the a C5 for 2 months (got an offer I couldn't refuse) and now a 00 C2 for the last 1.5 years. The NSX is an awesome car. There is certainly a difference between pre 97's, (3.0 to 3.2 engine, 5 speed to 6 speed) but essentially the same car. (pre 95's no targa). If you are looking at a 98, the car is more than likely out of warranty. You might want to consider a 95-6 and save a couple of dollars. You can learn anything and everything about NSX's at nsxprime.com. My only complaint is that mechanically, it is dated. But I still love them. The C5, that was an interesting car. Drove like an animal. For the money, you cannot come close to the performance of a Vette and still be able to buy an almost new car. The C6 is even better. You can find amazing deals on c5's. The Porsche, well, the 996 is just different than other cars. Rear engine, handling, it is certainly fun. Maintenance is certainly more than the other cars, but only if something goes wrong. If you have any other questions about these cars, you can email me at

POST 10Original post

nsx is a beautiful car, but its still a 6pot japanese car thats more than a decade old. plus the interior is hideous.

POST 11Original post

Moogle, Taste is relative, I think the NSX is one of the best designs PERIOD. I would opt for the NSX over the C2 - I also think the interior is just as nice as my 996, the seats are better, again it's all personal choice. I almost bought an NSX serveral years ago - I choose my 996 because of the back seats (I really use them, my kids are still small) with the lack of the rear space the NSX was not for me. In my futher I can see an NSX in my garage. I love the look, my only wish is the wheel size were larger. Again my two cents.

POST 14Original post

It's very simple, if you purchase the NSX , you are always going to wonder what it would have been like owning a Porsche . so do it right the first time and buy the Porsche. The NSX is a great car but it's not a Porsche...............IMHO. Cheers and safe driving.

POST 15Original post

actually i have had more than 10 porshces and i wonder what it's like to own a nsx ;-)

POST 16Original post

Mooty - I had the same thoughts before - :-) I just love the looks of that baby.

POST 17Original post

Take them both for a drive down a nice twisty back lane and see which one speaks to you...

POST 18Original post

have you test driven both? I would guess that would answer your questions performance wise. In terms of looks, I assume the NSX is the older looking body style, right? Personally, I think the older style looks dated, as for the newer body... well, that's a different story. If you can handle the 996 financially, go with the C2, you won't regret it. Good luck!

POST 19Original post

the seat of your pants will tell you what to choose.

POST 20Original post

You really need to drive them. They are very different. I think the NSX is more engaging than the 996 but that's just me (or it could have been the tubi exhaust, it sang). I had a '96 for 5 years and still love it like a first love. The earliest cars did have some issues with the transmission but if you pick up a '95 or later (they sort of performed a 1/2 way upgrade then) you should be good. Bulletproof. Find one in good condition, take care of it, and you will only have to worry about oil changes & tire wear. Having said that ... I'm now in the market for a Porsche. Really scared of potential mechanical issues associated with the 996s but nothing else out there speaks to me like my NSX than a P car. In the end, I really don't think you can go wrong with either choice. Like the man said, let your butt decide.

POST 21Original post

I currently own both. My NSX is now heavily modified. The 2 cars are different in a lot of ways. I get more looks in the NSX, because you don't see them everyday. The Porsche is more comfortable to drive. The NSX is more reliable. You have to drive both and see what you like. I am fortunate enough to have the choice every morning which one to drive to work. Good luck and happy motoring in whatever you decide to buy.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

wow, amazed by the amount of responses... I have actually driven both. I've driven the NSX over 1500 miles because my best friend has one, and we have taken it for long distance drives(Houston to Dallas). When I test drove the Porsche, I felt a little uncomfortable in the drivers seat, but with the NSX, I felt more in control. All things said, the NSX nevertheless, is not a porsche. My two main factors for considering the NSX are as listed: -Reliability, my friend can attest to the fact that there is very little maint. cost involved with the NSX. Yes, replacing the tires is expensive, but it has never broken down on him. On the contrary, I have read many horror stories while researching the 996s. ( For the record, I have not performed an indepth research on the NSX) -Resale value- the 996s seem to be dropping in prices like crazy. I remember just a few months ago, u put in a search for 99 996 on autotrader for less than 35k, you get 20 responses. Now you get more than 40. I feel like I could buy an NSX, keep it for a yr or two, and then buy a 03 or 04 C2 and not loose too much on depreciation costs. Anyone agree?

POST 23Original post

Having owned a C2 (but not an NSX) I will recommend that you go along with the NSX if you don't need the small back seats, I was swayed by back seat reasons as well. The nsx seems to be a very well balanced car. Its faults are that it has a dated interior and may be considered underpowered by some. I'm a big believer in working your way up to high power cars, so I'd recommend the NSX. When you have more money and experience, go for a porsche or something comparable. This gives you something to grow into in the future.

POST 24Original post

The NSX has similar performance numbers to a 996. Where do you get more power in the 996? [MB] This month's Car and Driver features a 0 - 150 - 0 competition as it's cover story. The article was set-up to compare some supertuned cars (Mustangs, Vipers, a Vette, and a Mercedes SL), but they tested several stock cars to use as a baseline. One of these cars was a Kaiser Silver and Onyx 1998 Acura NSX Coupe (not targa) with the 6-speed manual transmission. For the stock cars, the NSX came in second overall, beating all but the Viper Coupe. It beat (in order) the C5, the BMW 540, the Jag XJR, the Camaro Z28 SS, and the Porsche 911 (996). They had a few interesting things to say about it: "[the NSX] diced with the Corvette to 130 mph before pulling decisively ahead to reach 150mph two seconds in front of the Vette." "the NSX returned the fourth-best OVERALL (including modified) stopping distance at 742 feet, trailing only the Corvette among the stockers." "Our low-miliage Porsche was neither the fastest not the slowest 911 we've tested, but it was no match for the rocket NSX........... The 911's 10 - second time from 140 to 150 mph was the longest of any car's in the test, and five seconds longer than the NSX's." The performance numbers for the NSX were as follows: 0 - 60: 4.5 0 - 100: 10.6 1/4 mile: 12.9 @ 110 Braking (feet)

POST 25Original post

Make the nsx red and we're talking : ). My friend has a '94 NSX with 165k miles-that's darn reliable and still kicking. Very well balnced car and great sound when vtec kicks in. My only beef is interior very much like any honda accord. Can only hold 2 people is that is a consideration. I could stick 2 golfbags(full size) in the back seat area or 2 kids where only put one golf bag in the nsx in the back and gold buddy holding one in the passenger seat. Still a very nice car but would never buy a new one-price is way up there. Another thing to consider is it's all aluminum body-mite be expensive to fix if dented. Regards. Mike

POST 26Original post

Regarding the golf bag issue, I put 2 bags in the trunk of my NSX's hundreds of times. I am glad to see that people on this board are not bashing the NSX or any other car for that matter. I have to disagree with the performance numbers. The NSX does not do 0-60 in 4.5. And all of the power is at the high RPM's, which I used to find a bit annoying.

POST 27Original post

Once you get into cars on this level, it is all personal preference. No need to bash any cars as the 2 cars in question are both awsome cars.

POST 28Original post

I agree with you all and Im glad to hear that we are giving respect to non P-cars. Over the past few months, whenver I wrote about NSX or the new C6 or any other car, I had to read about about how much better the 996, and how crappy everything else is and then have my loyalty to the 996 questioned. Look at it like this, if we acknowledge and respect other cars performance, PAG will have to increase the performance/refinement in its own products. Its good to hear from true performance car lovers and not just blind Pcar addicts. Bobby

POST 29Original post

CAB2u-can you stick 2 kids in the back too : )-less noise is a plus!!!I'm saying 2 full size golf bags not those compact thingies : ). Regards. Mike

POST 30Original post

I can't believe this discussion is continuing. The NSX is a fine car but isn't in anyway comparable to the 996. There's not a stock 996 out there that won't run circles arround the Honda. Don't get me wrong, the Honda is a nice car, but it's an entry level sport car.

POST 31Original post

It use to be that German manufacturers built the best cars in the world. MB and Porsche built cars that had high performance and were very durable. It's sad to see what has happened to the quality of both marques.

POST 32Original post

Hmmm what do we call this? inverse trolling? Dont bite guys.

POST 33Original post

Heh, I just ignored that guys post since he couldn't ignore mine. Bobby

POST 34Original post

Just Porsche - You are way off base with your comment, the NSX is closer than you think when comparing stock 996 to stock NSX. My friends 98NSX can hang with me all the way to 160+ mph and I dog my 996 daily. I love Porsche but also realize there is more out there than just one. I would consider the NSX (if I could live with a two seater) anyday. Again, you have to drive them both allow your soul to make the decision, not your wallet. That way your always smile when you see your baby. Works for me. good luck amigo,.

POST 35Original post

NSX was Ayrton Seena's personal car. Honda did give him one as a present because he did help mechanics to improve suspension and braking components. In testing he did 6 consecutive braking acts from 150 mph to zero mph, and brakes showed no fading or tireness!!!! BUT he has been caught speeding on the M25, which is a four lane London outer ring road, with a lovelly early..911and of course he has been banned for driving for 6 months The funny thing to this story was that when the policeman stopped him, he asked him: why do you speed? Who do you think you are? Nigel Mansell?.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! these are two very very very different cars...it is not like comparing S-class Merc with 7-series BMW..... as you can see i am a porschehonda maniac....most of my cars are from these 2 brands... you really need to have a test drive to have an idea of what it is....and definetely a 2-3 day test drive to appreciate them more..... i would go for 911 daiy and NSX trackdays and week-ends.... p.s by the way, you must hear the NSX.......

POST 36Original post

I posted the same question on the 993 site two weeks ago, check it out,I'm still looking.

POST 37Original post

Not sure that this clip does justice to the NSX engine but have a look. http://www.honda.co.jp/NSX/prototype...y/movie02.html One of these days... Harry

POST 38Original post

I don't think that clip did any justice. If you notice halfway thru the vid, they show the rpm and mph TACs...notice how you hear the engine still reving, but the rpm needle is at 1, and he's only going 50mph. But, I would still take an R without question.

POST 39Original post

At the track NSX is always highly regarded... in fact there are many who prefer the NSX over the 996 as a track car due to it's mid engine layout and advanced chassis... it's certainly not an entry level sports car... it's AT LEAST on par with a 996.

POST 40Original post

drove an NSX and spent more time oogling my 996C4 than his NSX. So I let him drive the 996 one day to pick up his girlfriend...he sold the NSX! NUFF SAID.

POST 41Original post

c'mon, if you have driven both cars and still need to ask, then the NSX is for you. The NSX is beautiful, but a poseurs car. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

POST 42Original post

NSX was designed as a race car from the ground up... the 996 wasn't... if you want to race a Porsche you have to buy a GT3 ... sure you can take your average 996 to the track and lap it... but guys who race Porsches own GT3's only... 996's are the "street" porsches... the NSX is highly regarded by many who spend lots of time at the racetrack... plus its a hell of a lot more reliable than the 996.

POST 43Original post

It irks me when so many people argue which car is faster without ever mentioning driver ability. If you quote magazine articles then you're the poser. Buy what grabs you the most when you drive it.

POST 44Original post

Since I do own both and quoted magazine articles, I would assume that you are talking about me. I never said which one was faster. I say stock and stock, they are equal in perfomance. When a magazine tests the cars usually they are tested by the same driver for comparison reasons. If you are a terrible driver in one car, you will be a terrible driver in the other car, so if you are driving both cars they should feel equally as slow or fast. If a great driver races a 996 NA against a 996 turbo with an average driver, the trurbo will win everytime. Not flamin anyone, just they are both excellent cars.

rhunt....don't assume, I wasn't talking about anyone in particular. Only the all too often quotes which often permeate car discussions.

POST 46Original post

allrighty. I have discovered that i can get a 2002 NSX yellow/yellow for ~$65K. I jokingly keyed in 911 on autotrade and was shocked to see tons of cabs 02,03 for the same $$$. Its taken me 3 weeks to narrow down what i really want from a 997 to a NSX, then a 3.2 (97) nsx, now - (02) body tweak NSX. However, I *DO* LOVE the looks of the C4S cabs. Whats a realistic cost to acquire one - precluding buying from a chevy dealer?

POST 47 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

DoubleNuts, are you serious? Do girls really dig the porsche more than the NSX? I'm starting to get the feeling they do. I am so confused as to which car to buy. I figured the ostentatious looks of an NSX would be more appealing to a girl rather than the Porsche. I haven't particularily asked too many girls on which car to get, since none of the ones I know, really know anything about cars. However, the few I did ask said, get the porsche!..I don't like the way the NSX looks.... that frightens me. I had almost given up looking for porsches, and I even negotiated prices with a few NSX dealers...and now I'm back to square one, thinking about getting a porsche again. Can someone tell me if there is a flaw in my thinking? I think I can get an 97-99 NSX for about $42-45K, and be able to sell the same car for above 40 in a yr because these cars don't seem to depreciate much at all. At which poinnt I will be able to afford a 02/03 porsche for maybe less than that, judging by the steep depreciation the 996s have been taking. Comments anyone?

POST 48Original post

I can tell you that girls like the Porsche better than the NSX. Porsche to them = $$$$

POST 49Original post

My foundation opinion is that any woman that would date you for the car you drive is rather shallow. Afterall, if she's not in love with you first then "she is just a trick" (good for a night of practice...if ya know wut I mean) . Just make sure you get yours first before she come back to hump your car, becuase after that she's coming back to ask if she can borrow it for a puke night out with girls. Of course the intention there is to look hot in your ride and pick up other dudes, while you're at home grabbing your next slice of cold Dominoes pizza and glass of warm Kool-Aid! Next, I think when women love you first and like the car you drive second, that are probably likely to understand that the 911 is a much more practical car than a NSX. The NSX will probably get there with a little bit of class and some amount of flash but I would'nt try sport'in an NSX with yer honey in it at the ski lodge (Yea, a Ski rack on top of a NSX...that's sexy). Finally, In my humble opine, the glamour of the NSX will wear off pretty quickly and and if she loves you first your gonna need a back seat for the new puppies. So you will always have an excuse for owning one... if it were an NSX she' gonna make ya sell it for something that can carry a baby seat, like a Suburban or something .

POST 50 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

okay I think this is an interesting topic. Lets keep in mind that I am 23, just got out of a relationship a few months ago, and while I miss my ex, I'm having fun being single. I would assume that being single with an NSX or Porsche would be even better. I love the chase, but having something similar to a "cheat code" (ie seriously incredible car) makes it even better. Guys, I'm thoroughly confused. Maybe I should stick to my camry and invest the money in mutual funds so I can be a rich guy when im 50 years old, and look back and regret not living out my 20s. To hell with that... In a recent study, it was found that guys with BMWs get laid a lot more than guys with porsches or Japanese cars. Could this be true? or could it just be that the target buyers variable?

POST 51Original post

I had read the same thing, but maybe BMW owners tend to be younger and feel the need to "toot their own horn" as opposed to Porsche owners who are probably out driving. Both cars are "status symbols" to some extent, but in my experience, BMW owners tend to be a lot more "status-oriented" (i.e. buying because it is a "BMW") than Porsche owners (many of whom buy because it has the performance of a Porsche. (I realize that I'm generalizing, but then again, I am responding to a survey, which is a generalization of sorts.) Long story short: I have found that Porsche owners are: 1) much more knowledgeable about cars, in general; 2) much more likely to appreciate a car for its performance, as opposed to its "status"; 3) much more likely to tell it like it is. Check out an M3 board against this board and you will know what I mean. For me, my decision was between the E46 M3 (with rod-bearing recall problems) and a used 996 (with RMS problems). I went the 911 route and have never looked back. I had also considered an NSX, but the price hasn't dropped significantly (likely because of its "exotic" status), but I had a feeling that if I had gotten the NSX, I might have been itching for the 911. I am happy to say that the "itch" doesn't go the other way--not to say that they aren't all great cars, but the 996 ROCKS.
Well, there are a lot more BMW's out there than P-cars!!!! Bobby

POST 53 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess you were in the same situation I am in now. My cousin has an 02 M3. He drives his car pretty hard, and that may or may not be the reason he had so many problems with the car that BMW finally bought it back, giving the car a LEMON title. That got rid of my need for a M3. While I can afford a 99/00 996, I'm not sure if I can afford to maintain it. The NSX will be a lot more simple to maintain. I know it seems like I'm leaning towards the NSX, but I'm hoping someone on this board can either convince me further, or rebuttle and convince me otherwise.

POST 54Original post

what makes you feel or think that you can maintain an NSX and not a 996. is this because you think that an NSX might not cause you a prob, and 996 will. what happens if the NSX will brake....can you really afford that, because the term "afford" really applies when the car brakes, and IF of course......

POST 55Original post

i am not actually trying to convince you to buy an NSX or a 996 either.... it is up to you.... I am the first one to try to convince to buy both....because as you can see i own cars from both families....porsche + honda...... make sure though you buy whichever you like and are happy to drive....because you need also to have this in mind.... in case that any of the 2 cars brakes...you shouldn't really think at that point that you should have bought the other car......

POST 56Original post

I think if you are buying either car based at all on what you think might attract women you are making a mistake. Take that factor out of the equation and just drive the heck out of both cars and buy what YOU like best. I've been through enough cars over the last few years to know that if you don't buy what you really want in the first place you will probably end up getting it eventually. Might as well go right to it and save the money and agony of getting the wrong one first.

POST 57Original post

By the way, it is probably neccessary to point out that- the study to which you are referring to was done among married couples and the active frequency of their sex lives... it was not about wheather a guy (or gal) got more sex becuase they drove a particular car. Just a freindly note But on a more important side bar, regardless of other opines on this topic- the key here is your happiness in this matter as MRpc12 said- "if you dont buy what you really want now you will probably end up getting it enventually." However, I also standby my earlier advice- if you get something that she will ultimately find impractical, after she kicks out a few puppies, you're gonna end-up sell'n it (and I don't mean mean her). I've been through quite a few really SWEET rides (no need to brag about all of them) and a couple of train wreck marriages too (not bragging or proud about that either), in all cases SHE will have issues if the car only fits two and each time you drive it she thinks your out scope'n new booty! Once she has got ya run down to a gold ring and baby crib in the new house, you can strap a baby seat in the back of your 911 (women love that). Then you drive down the street out her sight and toss the baby seat in the trunk, put on your set of Sonny Crockett BanRays ... then go scope'n new booty (practictice this for too long and you will wear my divorce notches... I can guarentee it).

POST 58Original post

THat wasnt' my quote doublenutz. I was quoting to Mani's quote. I say NSX because they are holding their values better and are more reliable. At 23 yoru don't want to get hit with very high repair costs. Honda has a better reliability reputation than pretty much any other car out there. Although I don't have any problems, i did spring for an extended warranty, if that tells you anything. bobby

POST 59Original post

UHHHH , I beg to differ with this statement GREATLY! Why, you ask? Becuase for the last 4 years the Porsche 996 has been ranked No.1 by JD Powers and Associates as the MOST DEPENDABLE and BEST PREMIUM SPORTS CAR . Honda is much further down the stack by a considerable margin. When compared to all classes of other car Porsche places second only to Lexus. NSX is not anywhere on the list of Honda Cars. I can personally vouch for the Customer Satisfaction effort of Porsche as I did have an RMS failure while my 996C4 was out of warrenty. I took it back to the dealer a year after the warrenty expired and Porsche repaired the RMS failure (gave me a new engine, seal failure was way out of spec to reuse factory engine), put me a Cayenne loaner for a week, for NO CHARGE. Try that at a Honda dealership...but take your wallet with you!

POST 62Original post

As far as Sports cars go the Porsche 911 is No.1 again and places ahead of the Honda S2000 (the NSX is not even in the top 3).

POST 63Original post

IF YOU HAVE TO ASK, THEN YOU SHOULD PICK THE ACCORD, umm, I mean the nsx.

POST 64Original post

You guys are horrible. Any time someone offers a sincere question and a different view point you slam and insult them in a variety of ways for not towing the P cars party line. Both Cars have advantages and disadvantages. Both are fun cars in their way. No one can tell you which to buy. You have to decide on which you like. Because even if car A costs less to repair, the first time you shell out money, you'll be resentful. On ther other hand if you really want car P but the thought of 5K in repairs ( low probability but real) or 4-600 for routine maintenance, you'll be unhappy also. I could buy a Ferrari Modena or 355 instead of my C4s. BUT the idea a not so unlikely maintenance would force me to shell out 1500-3000 makes me uncomfortable. Not that I could not afford it but that I choose not to put myself in that position. When I was a resident I had a 86.5 928S. My mechanic told me to anticipate 2000-3000 in upkept and repairs/year. Yes the buy in was low, but the upkeep was steep. THAT IS WHY THE RESALE VALUE FELL TO WHERE IT WAS. As these cars age, they will need work. Period. That will be expensive. Buy what you want and can afford. Then tell us and send pictures. If you don't like it , sell it and get the other. It's a car not a marriage.

POST 65Original post

Hmmm, not completely certain why we are gettin an azz chewing for stating our opinions (that were requested) and having a little fun while we are at it but, OKAY...I can do boring.

POST 66Original post

blah, blah, get off your soap box and relax. I'm justing jabbing. What do you think would happen if one of us went to an NSX site and said, duh i'm thinking about buying a Porsche vs an NSX.......... Same result, different corner. Ask and you shall recieve!

POST 67Original post

Yeah Jabber on. Ask and get an opinion. But I remember when one's opinion did not include a slight against one's manhood, wallet, driving ability or wife/girlfriend. I am relaxed but try to stay relevant. Hey you don't have to tell us that you can do boring, we already knew it.

POST 68Original post

Burp!!! Uhhhh, Scott... you got a crimp in your nipples man. Becuase we were hav'n a little fun here until you arrived to joy kill. Dude do us a favor and find another thread where someone wants to stroke yer feelings and to be nice to ya. We are not interested in having ya spewm puke all over our discussion here.

POST 69Original post

Jabber on man. You have your opinion, crude and rude as it is. Pull your own finger. No joy kill for you. You're the one spewing puke all over. I was giving an opinion on the topic. That's how you earned your divorce notches right? Your charm and wit as well as tolerance. Thanks for sharing. Hey what was your opinion again? If you have to ask you can't afford it? Nice. WTF. Get a life and a brain. Not my feelings putz, the guy who asked the question. People like you don't even show up on my radar. Sorry. If you feel better being an azz, be it. You don't bother me. BTW The color of your car, if that is your car, is ugly, really ugly. Expensive waste of money and taste. That's my opinion. DUDE. And you're repeating that sorry azz choice in your new one, eh? No capable of an original idea? You're the guy with one idea who keeps repeating it DUDE. Puke on yourself in your ugly car. Then repeat in your 997S.

POST 70Original post

OK dude... I give up that was a funny post... Especially the part where you qouted me- "Hey what was your opinion again? If you have to ask you can't afford it? Nice. " LOL, I said (wrote) that? Damn, I must be toot'n my own gas because I sure as heck don't remember it. Then the ugly car comment, that was especially a blast, becuase you have a Zen Blue 996 in your avatar.

POST 71Original post

Wow, calm down little man, no need to prove yourself here. I don't think anyone cares............ We were joking and here you are acting like the *** you're calling us. HUH, who owns a Porsche, not you, likely. Take your Accord home and park next to your firend with the NSX. You two can swap parts and kisses.

POST 72Original post

Hey, you two - get a room! Things are calmer than this in the OT forum these days.

POST 73Original post

Hey dallas man---I hear ya brutha, we are "just getting our joke on" together and this guy not only crashes our party, he drank up our liquor, smoked our last joint, pulled my finger a few times, insulted us as he left our house, then called the cops!!! I don't understand the gall of some folks. You think maybe I should not have let him pull the old pooter tooter...maybe...huh?

POST 74Original post

I just sold my NSX to a friend after driving his 02 996 and bought a 996. After driving both I prefer a 996,also sold my 993.

POST 75Original post

These threads are funny! I have $220 allocated for my car payment and insurance each month. I am 18. Which car should I buy, a Lexus (they're all the same), a Ferrari 308, or a Porsche 996? Reliability is very important as I can barely make the $220 payment. What should I do? I'm leaning towards Magnum's 308 because he is cool and he promised the car is $0 maintenance. I wanted an NSX but have changed my mind because you guys influenced my purchase decision. BTW, I keep getting offers from a board memeber to purchase a beat up stang and a zo6. I can not afford either of these options as they are too expensive and cool for me. Instead I must use all of my extra grocery sacking tips for my reading/writing classes.

POST 76Original post

Mooty is rite, I too have wondered what it would be like to own an nsx. Both are great cars. Both have that "WOW" appeal to them. It boils down to personal preference. The budget factor is a legitimate concern, however. PORSCHE repairs will be more ......if you have any major ones that is. Have fun in the search!

POST 77Original post

Mani, Read my post about NSX vs 996 maintanance. Basically they are exactly the same. If you kill the NSX engine my guess is it would be much more to replace... it ISNT a civic or accord. The 996 has a more mass produced engine and they dont even bother re-building except at the factory.

POST 78Original post

I met my wife when I was 20. I had an almost new (back then) red 944 and when she saw my car and instantly wanted to date me (so young with such a nice car). I could not afford that car either, and ended up selling it because one repair bill I had at Brumos completely sunk me. Well that was 15 years ago, and right now she's downstairs asleep with our two kids. Funny how things work out!

POST 80Original post

The NSX will be more reliable than Carrera unless you get a GT3.

POST 81Original post

says "who"? The nsx is dated and slow. I had a '92 and though it looked cool it was not that fast. Now, in current times, it's very rice looking. Reliability, not what you'd think it'd be. The toe in on the car destroyed tires very quickly, the transmission lost synchros, the engine sounded like a tin can.

POST 82Original post

Let me add, I only had it for a week. After misc crap kept breaking and the trans was slipping, I returned it. I later ran into the car and was told the trans had to be replaced. It was nice looking though, it had really nice large mesh wheels with a deep dish, and comptech exhaust, chip, and intake. Looking back, the car really was falling apart.. Not what you'd expect from Honda and the interior was falling apart too.

POST 83Original post

Actually if you removed your head from your *** for one minute, you'd see that this thread has had some great and objective advice. In fact, for a Porsche forum, there were a lot of positive votes for the NSX. It's unfortunate that you are so insecure with yourself that the car you are driving is the ONLY great car out there.
