I’m guessing from other such situations I’ve run into that it’s pretty simple once you know how to do it.

Although I had the front fender liners off which facilitated getting a better look and seeing the solution, this can be accessed and removed by taking off the headlight and using a flashlight and inspection mirror to see what's back there.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not finding anything on this from searching, and rather than risk breaking something, has anyone input on how to release this connector? I’m guessing from other such situations I’ve run into that it’s pretty simple once you know how to do it. But help is always appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Hard to explain, but it has a plastic locking tab. Once you release it it will pop right off. I know that doesnt help much.. lol

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7921185

I already concluded that it (1) comes out in a downward direction, and (2) that there are likely plastic locking tabs, probably on the sides. If those assumptions are correct, then the remaining question is whether a couple of small screwdrivers should be inserted from the front or from below in order to release it. Or is some other trick required!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not one to accept defeat, I figured it out. This picture is of the side of the removed connector, and the little "tab" on the back of the connector (that the green arrow is pointing to) is a catch which holds the connector from dropping down (and out). It must be depressed with a tiny screwdriver in the direction that the arrow is pointing. Some ham-handed previous owner did a lot of shade-tree work (and using that term is being kind), and it looks like there once was another tab on the other side. Although I had the front fender liners off which facilitated getting a better look and seeing the solution, this can be accessed and removed by taking off the headlight and using a flashlight and inspection mirror to see what's back there. Inasmuch as the reason I wanted to get better access to the wires going to that connector in order to wire in my side markers to flash with my turn signals, anyone wanting to do the same thing may want to remove the front fender liners as well.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
