I'm thinking of changing my current head unit (CDC23) for a Becker single din Sat nav unit.

As mentioned above, yes, you can change the headunit but it's not a straightforward plug and play.

You will need to modify you sub slightly to change the ohm rating (I removed my sub to give me more storage space for family trips away).

You can't use the CD Changer, you can't use the BOSE Amp but you can use the BOSE speakers.

I'm thinking of changing my current head unit (CDC23) for a Becker single din Sat nav unit. Seems the most OEM one you can by. I have a few questions tho?
Will it connect to my cd changer, i think it's a CDC4?
Will it connect to the Bose system in the car?
Is the fitting straight forward?
If anybody does have the Becker Nav, the screen seems quiet small is it easy to use?

Quick reply as my battery is about to expire but I started a thread a month or so back with swapping the CDR23 for a Becker Cascade on a MOST car. Have a look and I'll answer any question if I can (and if it's the same swap that you want to do.)

Yes i'm looking at either the Cascade Pro or the Indianapolis, which is a few hundred pounds cheaper. I've seen out down to about £450 which is good for a sat nav.
Main differances seem to be Ipod campatibility.
Seeing as I have a bit more time and more battery I'll add to my post.
I assume as it's CDC4 and CDR23 then it's MOST and '52 or later plate.

You can't use the CD Changer, you can't use the BOSE Amp but you can use the BOSE speakers. You may need another Amp but you can probably try with the HU internal amp to see how it copes.

The small screen just gives you a clue about what is coming, i.e. roundabout, turning, slip road, etc and distances/times. The instructions are mainly verbal and clear. I find the HU positioning on a 996 not great for looking across at for a quick view as you have to look a bit more down than I prefer rather than just a glance across. It's perfectly adequate though.

BTW, I looked into Cascade or Cascade Pro and figured that the Cascade would do everything I needed and the Pro just didn't offer enough extra to justify the cost. I've also run the iPod cable but haven't used it yet. It works ok though as I had it fitted in my previous car.
yes I have a becker single din sat nav /radio/cd on my car and I have to say its brilliant and better than the Porshe unit (PCM1 at least) as it can cover all of Europe, is very easy to use, and is exactly the same design as single din Porsche non sat nav audio.
Although the screen is smallish ,the directions are large and clear and the audio instuctions very accurate.
Speed8, great write up and very informative thanks. In some ways it seems 2 steps forward and 1 back, as you get the better head unit, but lose the full bose.
