Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Even though I like the look, I don't like the hollow, light feel of the OEM shift on my recently acquired 2011 Cayman . After some research, I learned that the OEM shift knob is full of void space. I removed the shift knob, popped off the top cap , removed the two tiny screws and slide the body apart. I then filled with the voids with Tungsten putty weight from Hobby Lobby. I added about 3 ounces of putty to knob and it both added some much needed weight, plus removed that hollow feeling. It's a great mod for about $20 in materials. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/********.com-vbulletin/1500x2000/20221118_142242_21354ec1354beb530689a9776c27f01b91809177.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/********.com-vbulletin/1500x2000/20221118_142300_c0d22c39c25a1067248ba84846a235fb8b371fc5.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/********.com-vbulletin/1500x2000/20221118_142754_664fd35d728bbdbf7310edd68bd9db692a8e160c.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/********.com-vbulletin/1500x2000/20221118_142731_856496a8d89bbee3d859bb1f51e230c049c9fd67.jpg

Excellent idea. I'm sure there are some out there who question the value of added weigh to the shift knob. I was one until I did it. It feels much better and well worth the effort.

A really awesome hack, love the simple ingenuity. This is my first post in these forums (newb!), but weighted shift knobs definitely make a difference in feel. So much so that BMW offers a weighted version for both 5 and 6 speed manuals: BMW 6 Speed ZHP Shift Knob - Genuine BMW 25117896886 BMW 6 Speed ZHP Shift Knob - Genuine BMW 25117896886 www.fcpeuro.com It's a common "upgrade" for M cars. I have a new-to-me Cayman on the way (can't flipping wait) and will more than likely try this out. Thank you for sharing.
