The Cayman is not a garage queen (daily driver with 47k miles - the paint is very good with very few swirls even) and I am very fortunate it was the bumper cover and not metal.

Suggestion

Sometimes if polymer panels are cracked deeply or damaged severely they can't be repaired because they crack again, that was told to me by a phenomenal body shop owner friend.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hello all: I am in idiot and backed in too sharply into my parking spot and caught the edge of the bumper cover behind the rear wheel on the concrete column. As you can see below it is chewed up along the edge - not smooth scrapes. What do you all think is the possibility of a repair on this at a body shop. The Cayman is not a garage queen (daily driver with 47k miles - the paint is very good with very few swirls even) and I am very fortunate it was the bumper cover and not metal. I guess I am introducing myself in that awkward pose trying to take the photo. Thanks. Patrick

POST 2Original post

Sometimes if polymer panels are cracked deeply or damaged severely they can't be repaired because they crack again, that was told to me by a phenomenal body shop owner friend. However, in this case? A good technician should be able to hit that with some filler, sand it out, spot it and blend it.
