Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Mine stopped working too, TWG fixed it during a routine service (very good btw) as it was just a fuse

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The electric Tilt on my drivers seat has just stopped working, any ideas

POST 2Original post

I presume you have replaced all the fuses relating to the seat. Unfortunately there is an issue where the movement of the seat will rub against one of the wires taking away the plastic coating and begin to make it short. I am not aware of a case where just the tilt goes, it tends to be the whole seat. Hope it works out ok for you.

POST 5Original post

Hi, Replacing the fuse is just a short term fix (it's a green 3.0 amp one btw). I wouldn't recommend swapping the fuse more than twice, as it becomes a fire risk. The cause is that a cable has become caught, has worn, is shorting and needs a longer term repair. It's quite straight forward and my OPC is going to fix it for me when it goes in next. For reference, mine is just the back restraint pitch switch that fails (the only electric part on a standard 996 seat). Cheers.

POST 6Original post

The fuse is designed to be the weak link and in a circuit that draws too much current (for whatever reason) should always fail first, if there is an underlying problem then surely you would just keep blowing the fuse which in itself would be motivation enough to fix the root cause, but not cause for a safety issue in itself.

POST 7Original post

I absolutely agree with you, that's the fundamental point of a fuse. I was just pointing out that it's not sensible to blindly and *repeatably* keep swapping the fuse, otherwise the cause will potentially get warmer and warmer, which is not a good thing in a carpeted area. But, it's a very slight risk and is the main safety purpose of a fuse as you point out (as well as to avoid catastrophic damage to the motor).
