Yes, I know how to use the button, let's not go there.

I have a
Foxwell NT530
. I was messing with it this week, seeing if I could change coding for a couple things on a couple of modules (NOT the rear module, as I know that one can have issues coding with the
Foxwell
). I installed a Xtrons factory-look head unit a few weeks ago and this evening I installed a remote for it (as it doesn't have physical buttons).
I take the car out tonight, and the Sport, Sport+, and wing buttons all were not functioning. When I got home, I pulled out the head unit, messed with the wiring a bit to make sure all was good, reset a bunch of codes, and the spoiler button started working again but the Sport/Sport+ buttons didn't.
I coded the car back to stock, reset any leftover codes, and now the Sport/Sport+ buttons work but the spoiler button doesn't. The spoiler itself is working fine, as I can extend/retract using the diagnostic functions on the
Foxwell
.
Any ideas as my online searching isn't coming up with anything? I'm NOT taking it to a dealer, lol. I doubt the button is faulty as I did get it working again for a bit. I'm only pulling three codes currently, likely due to not having the
PCM
installed, which are C141 "Communication
PCM
(display" for the Instrument Cluster Control and POSIP. Also, the Steering Col Switch Control System shows 8020 Multi-function steering wheel timeout but I don't have a MF wheel.
One thing I noticed on several
NT530
settings - they were the reverse of what they said they were. The turn signals on my '09
987.2
-- when read out on the
NT530
it told me they were halogen. There was an option to set them to LED (which they actually are) - when I did that, the rear turn signals stopped working and I got the double-fast flashing, which is supposed to indicate a bulb (halogen) is out. I also got a dash message about a bulb out. I switched them back to halogen in the settings and the LED turn signals were and are happily working just fine, with no error messages.
I'd suggest trying to tell it you don't have a spoiler.. can't hurt and might fix it.
One thing worth checking before changing the coding on the cars - see if the module has an entry in the
Foxwell
to save the settings (used to replace a module with a new uncoded one..) Before changing anything, save the settings. That way if it goes balls-up, you can hopefully write the saved settings back to the module.
BTW - the communications error messages are standard when the
PCM
is removed.
So I spent some more time on this. I tried numerous options and none get the button working, even trying options that ar opposite of what I want.
So one may think the button is bad, yet there is a diagnostic test for the button light and it works fine. Spoiler goes up/down with the diagnostic test as well.
Any other ideas?
Ideas? Have questions first..
What exactly do you mean by "there is a diagnostic test for the button light and it works fine."?
Do you mean the test checks if the light works? Or there is continuity across the light bulb? Can you point to where you're finding this test on your car and I'll hook up to mine and see if I can replicate it.
The test I'd be looking for - and it's not specifically a "test" - is - where the Foxwell reports what the module sees as the status of the switch - up/down? Neutral? Can't read it.
Since things changed when you tried reprogramming things - what were the changes you were trying to make to the car's coding?
Does the spoiler go up automatically at speed? I seem to recall something like 67MPH, but that's from foggy memory.. you probably need a passenger to check it or someone in a following vehicle..
