If this can hang on until I am back in the office tomorrow, I could check on Bosch ESi technical portal to see if there is such an upgrade (996 to 997) as fas as I am aware (this is what I do for a living) I do not know to an upgrade.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

As long as they are Beru or Bosch you will be fine, Beru has got a bad name for some some cars i.e BMW & Renault but when it comes down to the Porsche 996 there is no difference at all.

Hi, I have a Carrera 2 2001 with 62000 miles and I'm looking for a Ignition coil set for my car. I found these for $239 PORSCHE 996 IGNITION COIL SET I see that some coils start with 996 and some with 997. These are 997. Does it make a difference and has anybody found a better deal elsewhere? KL

The latest Porsche numbers are: 997.602.107.00 - Up to MY2001 (3.4) - £34.98+vat each. 997.602.104.00 - From MY2002 (3.6 inc Turbo) - £34.98+vat each.

POST 4Original post

Thanks for the numbers Richard, they should coinside with the Bosch system, looks to me like a supersession of part numbers rather than an upgrade. Do you know of any dealer tech-bulletin or upgrade?

POST 5Original post

No, there doesn't appear to be any technical bulletins, so they are a straight exchange for the older ones.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys, I bought a set for $229, since there was a "or best offer" option and the seller took it. Shipping for me is free in US, but it seems like the shipping to Europe was pretty descent too for $25. KL  PS.These prices are in US dollars...
