Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Certainly not a life or death question but was wondering if it's me growing old or what.... These are presumably the same make of a 996 Targa (2002). Just noticing an aesteatical difference...is it just me or the 2 steering wheels are NOT identical? I think one is a Dec 2001 make and the other one is a 2002 make (both '02 models) - would this justify the difference? Shouldn't they be identical?

POST 2Original post

One is shiny, one is matt. One is black, one is blue. One was taken at one angle, the other another. One was taken one day, the other another. One was taken with one camera, the other another. They are the same design, both having the "thumb rests", or ergonomic grips, if that was your query.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, that's what I was referring to. Thickness of the steering wheel and shape. Other than running a "spot the difference" exercise

POST 4Original post

Forget about the steering wheel, either my dad has been in there with his lawn mower or the the car in the 1st photo has tiger striped carpet!!!

POST 5Original post

blame the camera they are both the same and circular

POST 6Original post

Apparently, that is all the rage in "professional" vacuuming! For the full OPC look the stripes need to be triangle/saw tooth pattern (not just straight stripes)

POST 7Original post

OPC valeters are told to pile the carpet into saw tooth effect.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Are you guys serious about the OPC jigsaw??? :floor:

POST 9Original post

Both wheels are identical, it's the gloss finish (as replied originally) that is making it appear 'thinner' than the matt version. There's generally (maybe only) two types of wheel on the 996. The original four spoke type and the newer 3 spoke type. This is also the same for Boxster. I always felt that the 4 spoke version has a bit of a Mondeo look about it. From the base 3 or 4 spoke version, there's variants, such as Tip switches, leather colour and finish and carbon or wood/Rover options etc.

POST 10Original post

PS - Targa's are only available on a facelift on the 996, so all of them will have 3 spoke steering wheels. http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessori...irschalt-911-996-interieur-son&hideintro=true
