Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Install just' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check option codes of course, eg' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Retrofitted cruise is exactly the same as the factory fitted system.

I'm quite tempted to get both the CC and the auto wiper installed, but am paranoid about the OPC used car warranty becoming void.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone had Cruise Control retrofitted on a 996?
My 996 doesn't have it and am considering having it retrofitted - apparently an easy job.
Does is work as well as the factory-fitted ones?
Thanks
Yes. Retrofitted cruise is exactly the same as the factory fitted system.
It is relatively easy to retrofit to 996's with electronic throttle (M620 option code). The wiring depends on the model year, as it is different, depending on which instrument cluster and DME version. There is plenty of info on RennTech (Boxster DIY section).
If you don't want to DIY then there are a couple of indies who do it. One of them is my friend Tony at
www.wrightune.co.uk
. If you are further north, then John at
www.pecarspecialists.co.uk
also offers the service.

Had my CC fitted just under a year ago.
Essential for stress free long distance journeys and coping with the ever "popular" Average Speed Scameras
I can highly recommend PE Car Specialists in Barnsley, they have done a few jobs for me including recently retrofitting cruise control and OBC. The customer service and quality of work is always excellent.
any idea of the rough cost of this from an indie and Richard H did you use new parts or source second hand?
i quite fancy the idea of this too but would have to look like it was from the factory for me to concider
cheers
Tim
Hi,
It's on Wrightune's website!
996 C2 (2000-2001) - £480
996 C4 (1999-2001) - £480
996 C2 & C4 (2002-2004) - £360
Includes all materials and labour, but excludes VAT.
In 2000, the list price for Cruise control was £450
I've also heard lots of good things about Wightune.
I have a question though......
If it's a retrofit, which OPC do for the 997 without an issue (and could for the 996, except Porsche didn't issue the details to their dealer network), is it detactable that it's been added?
Except for checking the option codes of course, eg. during a 111 point check would it come up and does the wiring look stock.
I'm quite tempted to get both the CC and the auto wiper installed, but am paranoid about the OPC used car warranty becoming void.
Cheers.
Tim - I used used parts when I did my '98 C2, but that was mechanical throttle, so new parts wouldn't have been a viable option.
GD - If the cruise and OBC options were factory fitted, the wiring was incorporated in the original loom. The retrofit on an eGas car means making up additional wiring loom(s), so although the installation looks and functions exactly as original, it would be detectable if you were to remove the instrument cluster or steering column covers.
I sourced the stalks myself 2nd hand and the cost for installation, coding and connectors was £150+vat. As it uses OEM parts it looks like it would if it came from the factory.
