Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

:thumb: Greetings one and all, glad to be able to join you. Hi, I am George. I am laying up my 996C4 for the next 6 months or so as I will be in Qatar counting grains of sand. Can anybody out there advise as to the best solution for storage is, I have a secure dry barn, well ventilated but very dry and rodent free, the car has been washed and I have put a breathable cover over it. All contributions gladly received as I want to be able to come home .....start and drive. POST 2Original post

Standard proceedure is 1) disconnect or even remove the battery - put on trickle-charge (ideally give it to someone else to look after) 2) get the weight off the tyres; either jack the car up and put it on axle-stands, or as a next-best solution OVERinflate the tyres - this will help to minimise/prevent sidewall damage. Have a nice time in Qatar... oil industry?

I was expecting to see a pic of "Suck my Wake" from the movie The Great Outdoors... A 454 ? :drive:

POST 7Original post

It sounds expensive to run. I would leave the battery on the car with a trickle charger on it (C-Tek).

POST 8Original post

Agree with advice above plus... You should plug the exhausts with some rag to stop any pesky rodents from playing house while you are away. Additionally, fill the tanks until brimming - stops in corrosion.

POST 9Original post

you'd be amased at the no of cars i ve bought with rodent damage they love the pollen filters which are cheap but also love electrical looms might be worth considering a car coon just to keep the buggers out

POST 10Original post

Indeed!! My current car came with lots of paperwork from the previous owner; there is an invoice from the local dealer and under the "Work required" section it states "Owner spotted a rodent in the vehicle!!" Have to say that when I first read it I instantly visualised a mouse driving the car off down the road! Gladly, I can tell you the rodent hasn't reappeared since I have owned the car!!
