Was using Arabelle ('01 Turbo) as a daily driver, but racked up 26,000 miles in 15 months of ownership....so I just bought a '97 30th Ann Camaro Z28 6 speed convertable to take some of the load off........while still terrorizing ricers

Suggestion
I need the S4 for work and to carry my hockey equipment (won't fit in the porsche), otherwise I probably would use the porsche as a daily driver.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am wondering if most of you have other makes and models as your dailly driver instead of your 996??? MY daily driver is a 95 Mercedes E320 sedan with 105k miles, and 03 996 C4S with 15k and 99 Mercedes SL500 as my pleasure drivers!!!!!
2006 Toyota Tundra (winter beater, snomobile / Quad / Amplifier hauler)
2001 Lexus ES 300 "The Appliance". Just what you need when you put 40K mi on a year.
I've got an '01 Audi A4 2.8 with 28K miles as my commuter, but when I "donate" it to my kid next year, I'm going to look into a BMW 335i coupe to make my ride to work a bit more fun. My C4S is a weekend/sunny weather toy.
My 996 is my daily driver, but I drive my off at college daughter's V-6 Mustang to work at least once a week to keep it going. Makes one appreciate the Porsche quite a lot except for that nagging problem that her car's sound system is vastly vastly better.
95M3 with 85K as daily driver. Has to park outside 7-6 during work ;-((
04 40th as weekend only car driven into the hills of Northern LA county for smiles.
06 M3 will be transitioned into a daily driver early next year when 95M3 is sold.
daily driver is 05 tacoma prerunner
weekend only 01 996 C2 Aero
autox - STS class - 89 honda civic si
track only - 00 M Coupe
sunny days - 03 Z4
coming next year 07/08 M3 or 04 GT3
2001 S500 with 43,000 miles - bought it from my father in law to replace the previous daily driver, an '04 Chevy Tahoe Z71 (which was an awesome vehicle - I wish I had room to keep that too, but it's been sold)
I am quite surprised to see how many members (and "users"
) don't drive their P-Cars every day...
My 996 is my daily driver...take the kids to school each morning and then to the office. Wouldn't have it any other way!
Kevin - you live in the great LA area - you should understand - I would drive mine every day, but I would go crazy having to shift through 6 gears in gridlock every single day. I have to deal with the 101, 134, and 210 every damn day...if traffic were different, I would surely drive it daily, but instead drive it to the office once or twice a week and try to get some fun in on the weekend.
I need to go back and get my masters I guess. I don't even come close to most of your daily's. I keep my 996 for the nice weekends or when I might be off during the week. Drive a '92 Camery for day to day. Only drive about 3 miles to work. Not worth putting miles and door dings just go drive it to work.
i have a 96 subaru, but it is only used to transport mountain bike, skiing gear and on heavy snow / salt days. The C4s is the daily driver. even getting to and from work might as well enjoy it.

4 miles commute, daily drive the 996. Parking lot is much larger than # of cars, door dings not an issue. Can't afford house with more than 2 car garage, therefore have to daily drive Porsche. :-) I refuse to park cars, even beaters, on the driveway. Hot in the summer (110 here for a week not unheard of) and too wet in the winter... At the end of the day, the money is just as well spent on maintenance for the 911 ...
My 99C2 is my daily driver. I drive it several times a day, rain or shine. I park it in whatever spot is open, and don't get **** about avoiding dings and crap. It performs flawlessly and hasn't let me down ever, and it is about to turn 100,000miles.
If I wanted a garage queen/showoff car, I would have gotten a Ferrari or something. Porsches are made to be driven.
I drive the 997S rain or shine. I keep kicking around picking up a Jeep or Toyota pickup for the snow but don't want the hassle of maintaining two vehicles.
My commute is a paltry 4 miles though.
The type of work I do doesnt let me drive my 02 C2 everyday
I get a company vehicle that is 100% free + they pay for gas and insurance
I have to drive sometimes more than 600 miles a week going to job sites.. I wouldn't put my 911 thought that.. but since friday at 6pm until Sunday at 9pm I enjoy my car, sometimes my Girlfriend has to hit me with a stick to get me out of it on Sundays
Daily commute is about 48 miles roundtrip. I'm currently leasing an '06 A4 Quattro for the task. First time I've leased a car. Audi seems to run reasonable lease deals starting Nov./Dec. to move some inventory. It's a solid car, but I'm really not a sedan person. The lease will be up next Dec. and I'm considering something like a GTI. I don't need four doors most of the time, but it's nice having something for the Lowes/Home Depot trips.
my daily driver is an 2005 Audi S4 6 spd, my weekend car is a 2002 911 C4S 6spd. My 996 could easily be a daily driver. I need the S4 for work and to carry my hockey equipment (won't fit in the porsche), otherwise I probably would use the porsche as a daily driver.
My 996 isn't a daily driver, although I do take it to work from time to time. As a consultant, it's not the wisest idea to let my client see that I have a Porsche. Therefore, my commuter is an '05 Acura TL. With Bluetooth, DVD audio system, power everything, decent sport flavor, low maintenance, and excellent reliability, it makes a great commuter. I'd like to think of it as a "wrong-wheel-drive" BMW.
