Will hopefully get the door card off tomorrow but would welcome any suggestions about what may be wrong here to set me up before I do so.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Strange one this. Passenger window was lowered tonight and rose with definite sound of light mechanical noise (not squeaking or loud but more gritty-type noise) and stops about 3/4 of the way up. Will stop and return to fully open position. Thereafter it can be moved up in increments by individual presses but stops short at about 3/4 height. The motor is clearly working and Im guessing the cable may be somehow being prevented from fully raising. Will hopefully get the door card off tomorrow but would welcome any suggestions about what may be wrong here to set me up before I do so.

POST 3Original post

As I said in my earlier post - Window woes... that time of year again. This horrid cold damp weather is making the scraper rubbers hold tight on the glass putting lots of strain on the regulator so much so that the cable starts to snap and then fray. When the frayed part of the cable gets to the motor the window stops. This weekend I am going to look into a money saving idea on regulators. The cable is identical to cycle brake cable, there are kits available with an alloy tube which you can crimp onto the ends of the cable to create a cable loop at any desired length.
