Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I think it only happens if you turn the wheel a little after removing the key (locking the column), like if you use the wheel to help get in or out of the car.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I got in my 06 Boxster S this morning and when I tried to start it on the display it said steering lock I pulled the key out and put it back in and the wheel turned a little and everything was fine. I don't know if I did anything to cause it I drove it Sunday for about an hour and put back in the garage just like always.

POST 2Original post

Happens all the time in my 07 Cayman S . One of the few annoying features of the car. And my car can be parked perfectly straight and it will still happen occasionally.

POST 3Original post

Thanks for info I have only had the car for a few weeks and still learning a few things also this is my first Porsche there is a lot more to learn on it than the c4 corvette that I had thanks again.

POST 4Original post

The first time it happened in my Cayman , I was mystified as to why I couldn't get the car to start - until I noticed the dash display said "Relieve Steering" or something like that . . . oh those nutty Porsche engineers. I think it only happens if you turn the wheel a little after removing the key (locking the column), like if you use the wheel to help get in or out of the car.
