I can send the wiring schema I've used privately if that's useful (I can't simply put it online publicly as it contains one page from the euromotorspeed.com guide and this is probably copyrighted).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hello, I've decided to replace my stock audio system in my 997 TT with an Alpine INE-W925R. To do this, I bought the HUR package from Euromotorspeed.com. The installation went fine but now, I have a "hum" in the speaker when there is no or low sound being output from my Alpine. Essentially, any time I do something like low volume, mute, select an audio channel but don't play a song, etc. there is a hum on the speakers and this hum varies with the engine RPM, much like if something wasn't properly grounded. This makes me nuts... I can send the wiring schema I've used privately if that's useful (I can't simply put it online publicly as it contains one page from the euromotorspeed.com guide and this is probably copyrighted). What's odd to me is that the speakers should be hooked to the HUR by fibre, so there should be no ground issue, so where is the hum coming from and how to stop it?!? AFACIT, my HUR firmware is the last known one. Any help? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Actually your speakers are not hooked up by fiber but by regular wire. And yes, you have a ground loop issue you will need to trace.

POST 3Original post

Hello amdeutsch, thanks for your reply. What I actually meant is that (at least based on my understanding), there is not a direct "wire" connection between the Alpine and the speakers i.e. there is a wire connection between the speakers and the Bose Amp and one between the Alpine and the HUR, but in-between, it gets "split" by a fiber connection, consequently the grounding issue must not directly be related to the Alpine, right? My assumptions were: - Either the Alpine indeed has a ground issue and is the one transmitting "hum" to the HUR, which translates that into signals on the fibre - Or the Alpine is fine and the HUR is the one with grounding issue and sending "hum" as it converts In any case, I am lost as to how I could trace back this grounding issue. Any advice on how to proceed? Any suggested reading? Thanks
