Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Good afternoon
Just some guidance really, I was expecting the car soon but now been told I can get it mid august.
Being totally honest I have a small deposit down on the vehicle which is £1000
Seeing how the car market is moving I am thinking maybe saying no to the car and maybe getting one another time (when discounts) which im sure will come are available.
I am just wondering is my 1000£ refundable or since the car is at the port of Bratislava I have to say good bye to it and just wait for my discount cayenne and factor in that 1000£
Any help or advice would be great
Thanks everyone
My understanding is that if you placed an order, specced it, accepted the spec and order, and the car has been built, you won’t get your deposit back.
But I think it’s completely at the discretion of the OPC. All you can do is ask.

To cheeky to ask for the discount

The car was built and shipped with only a £1000 deposit?
Sounds unlikely getting it back
Take the hit and buy a nearly new if not new with 10% within 6 months?
Isn't the Cayenne Porsches number 1 selling car. So do we really expect to see discounts on them from new. As normaly during financial woes expensive SUV's sell like hot cakes.
With this being a new model on top of that also

A new model with dealers already advertising cars requiring homes....

There's 3 cars available all at 1 dealer.
Pretty standard to see dealers trying to sell cars they don't have or expect in to stock.
Just call them and tell them your circumstance have changed and you need to cancel. they will refund you. if they are pain about it. buy it without visiting opc to make any payment and get them to deliver to you and send it back under distance selling regs and get a full refund

demand is slow, other dealers have advertised and removed. expect alot of cars to come available by end of year if not before

Would this actually work though, due to maybe them saying it was a made to order item if it wasn't standard roll off the line specification?? I'm only asking as I have a Turbo S cab arriving at the dealer any day now and I am already seeing a few Turbo S appearing on the Porsche website as new cars which if not sold in a couple of months will surely be open to offers.......or am I just dreaming?
The contract I signed when I locked my spec for my CGTS stated that I could cancel at any time before I was given an official estimated delivery date. My car has been built (notified on the app today!) but so far I've had no estimated delivery date given. I guess the OP's contract would say the same?

But naughty asking for a discount after you have committed to a new car order, shocked they let you order it with only 1k down.
It will loose more than a grand the sec you drive out; if you don’t want it I’d walk away from the grand and let them resell it.
They shouldn’t have difficulty if it’s the new version, someone will want it.

Friend just cancelled his due to the same reason. Turbo mind not S.
His hadn’t gone into build, but they would still been left with an expensive build slot to fill!

Mine is already built, sitting in the port in the UK awaiting delivery to Swindon OPC. Looks like I may just have to suck it up.....
Does nobody just order a car that they want, knowing the price of it, and just take it?
These things aren’t investment pieces. They are utility vehicles.

This is the market changing... same for watches. The likelihood of appreciation is low now... so there's a real cost to ownership.
In an overs market, the buying decision is easier as its unlikely it'll 'cost' you anything.

So basically people ordering things they can’t actually afford?
A PCP is quite transparent. X deposit. Y per month.

Not necessarily.
Buying a (say) £150k car at retail price, knowing that in a year you can sell it back for the same, is different to knowing that in a year it'll be £110k.
With watches, all the spivs have been lapping up Rolexes knowing that the market was booming. Now the tide's going out, more are becoming available through retailers at list as the buying decision might cost.

I’m not sure he saying he can’t afford it, just doesn’t want to loose his shirt and says he happy to see where the market goes then buy.
Seems sensible to if he’s in no rush for a new car.
Clearly we are just old. Where new cars went down in price when you bought them and you actually had to pay for them
A Cayenne isn’t a “toy” or third car, is it? It’s, like I said, a utility vehicle that is supposed to be used for getting to work, school run, tip run, holiday trips.

Agree it’s a utility vehicle, problem is many who have bought into porsche over the last few years have done so as they have been told Porsche’s don’t loose money.
Yes GT cars have held value better since around 2015, but now everyone i thinks they all do not just GT cars.
You only have to look at the loss on a new tycan to quickly work that out!

You quoted the wrong person.
We are quite happy with the order. Esp the price increase was no where as bad as we expected after we moved our order from the last gen platinum to the new gen.
Like others. This will be an everyday car. Replaces a RR sport hybrid and a Mach-e

100% But sometimes opportunities present themselves. If I can lose a grand but save 5k why would I not do that when discounts inevitably will come. Maybe not before my car comes but possibly in 3/6months time.

Ive heard story’s of some BMW dealers holding customers to their order and if the purchaser who signed the order pulls out of the deal, the dealership threatening to sell the car for whatever they can and recover any loses from doing so from the person ordering the car via breach of contract court action.
I personally think a it is reasonable for an order to be cancelled and deposit to be returned before a Build slot is given, however Once an allocation is given, a car spec’d to your personal options and it enters build, i think it is reasonable for the dealership to insist you take it or pay a large penalty.
Easy to get out of it if it is something niche or that will go for overs, but a run of the mill motor that will depreciate (heavily) …
It will depend on the terms of hte contract you signed at time of finalising order
Brace yourself Sheila….

Used to be 5k on a SUV, prob a trillion pounds now after the price hikes.
I’m sure they will certainly be asking for far greater deposits if cars keep getting cancelled.

I walked into a cancelled slot at the end of May 23, a friend was in there collecting his new car and asked the salesperson on the off if they had any slots available, before that I had been on the 12 -18 month list at Colchester since last November.
Just spoke to them today, seems to be some delay until middle of august now.

Many thanks.
Was Told by dealer principle it could anywhere between 3 and 5 days when it was processed.
The latest it should have been in was Thursday. But still no deposit LOL
I chased them yesterday with no response
If they were prepared to do a 'discount' on the vehicle we wouldn't have this problem haha

I’m sure you will have your deposit back soon enough, it’s probably just going through their accounts department.
Were they shocked when you said you were cancelling?
If you can walk into an OPC to order a car, leave a £???? deposit, spec it and then just change your mind and get it all back at any point in the process, what would be the point of taking the deposit in the first place?
Surely all that would do is encourage a load of time wasters to order cars.

Because its not a deposit in the true sense of the word. Your 'deposit' is just an intention to buy on your side and an intention to sell on the sellers side. Its not an allocation to an as yet unbuilt car. Hence why we see time and again people comparing how long they have to wait from 'deposit', to spec lock, then delivery. It varies massively due to multiple reasons.

If that were true why has the OP felt the need to start the thread?
Obviously the exact delivery time of a car cannot be known for untold reasons, we all know that, but that does not explain the point of taking a 'deposit' in the first place if it is fully refundable regardless.
Surely the purpose must be to lock someone into the deal or a least have some sort of penalty to discourage time wasters who later want to get out of the purchase for whatever reason.
I dare say an OPC could waive the fee if the car is sought after and easily saleable, but if you spec a car in such a way that nobody else would want it, including the OPC, I cannot see them just saying not to worry, have that one on us.

Ask the OP why they felt the need to start the thread. Then give your preferred OPC a call and ask them how deposits work
