Got the car last week. Have to wait for
launch
control after a few more miles.
Very sweet combo Tom: naughty (987T) and nice (991TT).
I take it you'll be selling the bad a!! one.
Many congrats! Dang, UR 987 looks way too good to ever be called the B Team car.
Which one do you think has the least turbo lag and smoothest power curve under hard and heavy driving?
Awesome! I'd also love to know your thoughts on Bodhii's question above.
In comfort mode the TT feels like it has the smoother power curve and a little turbo lag, but it could be due to the time it takes for the quick and smooth
PDK
downshifting while cruising at 1000 rpm. It typically upshifts at 1100 rpm to quickly get to 7th.
The boost comes on quick and is more noticeable in Sport/Sport Plus with the added
ECU
tuning map. Power to weight ratios might even favor the Cayman (Dan...your car does for sure!) but TT feels stronger with less effort even with the added weight. The differences are having more torque at the lower RPMs and the shorter gear ratios. The acceleration is almost too quiet and effortless even at the occasional burst above the recommended maximum revs for break-in.
The Cayman is more nimble and roars off the line and through the gears since it feels like it is working harder. The louder
exhaust
, race
headers
and a stiffer ride makes the Cayman a different experience.
I want to keep the Cayman but have been advised by the wife to do otherwise.
Congrats. The new turbo's look the business, really like the dark roof contrasting with the white. Enjoy!
Saw my first 991 turbo the other day. I love the rear fender treatment.
Congrats. Nice choice.
Sounds like you have the best of both worlds, raw and refined to choose from.
Oh, and if your wife prevails I have a nice spot at home for a turbo Cayman!
Try arm wrestling to settle things…only to lose every time.
Congrats on a beautiful new ride! Looks great. Can't wait for you to get past the break in miles...want to hear how the LC works!
Enjoy it in good health and Happy New Year!
Congratulations tach miami on a couple of VERY nice cars! I'm curious if the turbo draws more or less attention than your Cayman has in south Florida. I think perhaps you should change your user name to "torque miami!"
Maybe the wife and I will get down there for an event where we can see it.
sweet man - congrats!
I always get nice comments about the Cayman but now when washing the cars in the driveway, I’ve been getting thumbs-ups and shout outs from drivers and walkers, and had one couple actually make a u-turn to see the 991 up close. There haven’t been that many turbos delivered yet so it does stand out with the black side intakes.
The
PDK
is a lot smother shifting than the version I drove a couple of years ago in a
launch
version Panamera turbo which was really jerky. The sport setting reduces the body roll that is really noticeable in comfort mode.
lspain…. There is a lunch drive
DCICARCLUB
to the Key Largo Marriot Saturday Jan 11. Some of the same crowd from the Tesla open house will be doing it too. I’ll give you another ride in a turbo. I actually have three turbos for the time being…don’t forget the diesel!
Mashallah!!! What a garage!!! A
Cayenne
, Cayman and 911... WOW.
Looking at this picture, I can see why every no-Porsche owner think Porsche designers are so lazy. I bit many will not notice you bought a new car, confusing your 991 with the 987. I'm guessing my contacts will confuse the Rhodium Silver 991 turbo with my previous Arctic Silver Cayman... I see it coming if I opt for it.
I better rush to the dealer
PS Can you share more about the drive, acceleration, ride and under/over steering of the 991 now after the break in?
