Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

There's 2 December build allocations at Porsche of Arlington in Virginia as well as of last week. Non-PTS.

POST 3Original post

Does this mean 2105 MY GT3 production ends at the close of the year, or did I miss an announcement that 991.1 GT3 is only one year, with the next gen production following a platform facelift?

POST 4Original post

Head over to 6speedonline. I believe the GT3 production is coming to an end. There is a thread about it, just saw the title, didn't click in to read the details. Not interested in a PDK GT3.

POST 5Original post

Hassann...there is a thread on ******** too. "no more PTS" on page 3 if the link doesn't work. No more pts confirmed, but no production after December? - ******** Discussion Forums

POST 6Original post

Thank you for the link. I emailed my configuration to the dealer to see when I can place my order. I won't be placing my order before December. And if what's said is true, then I'll pass on Porsche 100% and move on for something else unless the 991.2 will be available mid 2015. However it puzzles me, how could Porsche recover the cost of R&D and profit from the 991 GT3 in less than a year then shut it down!

POST 7Original post

I've been seeing a few 2014 GT3s for sale on ********, with some sellers stating they are selling due to having an allocation for 2015 GT3...was curious on the motivation behind that, are the 2014s considered damaged goods cause they had their engines replaced outside of the factory or are a lot of them "lemon" titled as was mentioned above

POST 8Original post

Only the cars bought back would have such on the title. The other cars with replaced engines have a longer original warranty. Time will tell what the longer term value difference is for 14 vs 15. A key option change for MY 15 at least for builds after Nov 2 is the lightweight bucket seats. These appear to be the same as in the 918 although I don't think it's confirmed they are the same in all respects. They look the same. I'm sure there are some selling 14 and buying 15 to get the seats. Sport chrono is also changed. and additional colors. Other than that the cars are the same.

POST 9Original post

With the last auction, there is a lot of confusion. The titles are market as lemons in the sense they were out of customer hands for more than 30 days. Yet at the PCNA auction, all the cars went for around MSRP, which is strange. And there is another auction coming. There are a lot of the auctioned cars on internet sales sites now going for MSRP or higher and, of course, who wants them? Some people might view them as tainted goods and other not. While Porschephiles will know what the title means, they might not care, but the general public looks carefully at Carfax. Since production ends in December, and they might or might not be another GT3 in MY17, its all very strange. The best thing to do to understand this is to read this thread .

POST 10Original post

Excuse my ignorance but I've been away for months from the forums and I'm trying since yesterday to catch up after becoming serious about buying a 991 GT3. May I ask, why did the GT3 auction take place? Was it the owners auctioning their cars due to the fire incident? And why auctioning 20+17 GT3s would impact the future of the GT3?

POST 11Original post

Not an expert but from what I have read on forums- the cars were auctioned by PCNA to US dealers in a dealer only auction. In the US there are so called lemon laws that are intended to protect customers. The law requires the manufacturers to buy back problem cars under certain circumstances. I think they vary by state. A common condition is if the car is down for an extended period. So many of the early delivery 2014 GT3s that were down due to the stop sale met that criteria. I expect Porsche was pretty open to taking them back if a customer wanted to get out. If a car is bought back then I understand it gets noted on the title and generally such cars are undesirable and would sell at a discount. Of course the GT3 is a little different since it was a specific flaw, the cars got brand new engines and additional warranty. Still it was surprising to most that the cars auctioned went for MSRP or more. Lots of speculation on the forums about why. I suppose the dealers thought they could sell them above msrp. Maybe that had long wait lists? Time will tell if it was a smart move. That's about the extent of what I know!

POST 12Original post

Thank you Zedcat for the explanation. And did these auctions and GT3 engine problem had anything to do with stopping the production and moving on to 991.2? Some were even saying that the whole GT3 program may get cancelled. I find this very much exaggeration over an engine thing. Even the expected Ferrari rival from Porsche doesn't justify such move. I mean the 991 GT3 and turbo already are much more expensive than the 997. Going after the niche customers who can afford a Porsche at the budget of a Ferrari, doesn't justify killing the GT3 to me.

POST 13Original post

^^^^ Correct. A title branded as a lemon will not sell "in general" Of course this set of circumstances is not normal. It is strange about the dealers buying the cars at MSRP and now they are dumped onto the market but who is buying? The dealers have to make a profit so these are not bargains by any means with an avg price around ~$155K plus profit. A second auction is due and that will dump more cars into the market. Meanwhile there are 15 allocations popping up, which is not normal. So something is going on. The best way to understand the future of the GT3 is to read this . The cliff notes version is: 991.1GT3RS is late. Why? Fires bad for everything, possible End of Life for this engine 960 coming down the road. Motorsports shifts to Ferrari Fighter If you see another GT3, it won't be until MY17 at the earliest. Eduardo knows his stuff. Just read his masterful porsche exclusive threads. He is very knowledgeable. The engine fires have nothing to do with the Spring introduction of the 991.2. MY15 is the end of the normal 4 year cycle before a facelift. Just guessing here but the GT3 might get cancelled because: 1. The 911 platform is done in terms of racing. Time to move on with a mid-engined platform for racing and that will be the FEFI 2. The fires "might" have indicated there is no more power to be had from these engines (hence the discussion of a new engine in the reference thread). What does this mean for the 911s? Not much. They will always exist but perhaps the racing effort shifts to the 960. After all, the GT3 exists solely as the street version of their racing cars.

POST 14Original post

Heaps of opinion and speculation around. And that's all I can offer too! I don't think the auction had anything to do with the production run end. Just Porsche disposing of the cars as profitably as they can. Most opinions I've heard are that GT3 production is ending to tool up for RS production which seems logical. Although the GT3 isn't a limited edition like RS4.0 was, they have historically been a specific production run and then no more. The stop sale I think was nearly 6 months (? not sure) and my view is they just couldn't extend the GT3 without messing up other production plans, so they are ending it. Also much speculation this will be the last aspirated GT3 and future GTs will be turbo. Who knows? I hope we see future NA GTs. And just opinion but I doubt the GT program will end altogether. Even with all the Cayenes, Panas, Macs, Porsche heritage is sports cars and I think there will be future harder-core 911s . Hope so anyway.
