On the 2009 where in the front compartment is the CD slot for installing the update CD?

Jack, First, welcome to the site! A 2009 Cayman or Boxster is a 987 model so your message was moved over here into the 987 section. That being said, if you are updating maps you need to put the DVD into the Navigation DVD player which is behind the plastic door panel in the front trunk. If you look in our Articles section there is an article about installing Navigation and it shows the Navigation DVD player and its location under the front hood. Your owners manual should also tell you this. Hope that helps!

Shouldn't we change the subject heading too, since it's really "987 maps"? Keeping the 981 maps title seems to be misleading. Only a moderator can change the thread head, I presume.
