I have a 2009 Boxster S with PCM Nav/Bluetooth/Satellite along with Bose audio. I would like to update the maps but I understand you can't do this yourself, you have to bring it to a dealer for some sort of authorization code? Is that right? You can't just pop in some DVDs from eBay. If I were to replace the unit itself, it seems like I can't find the correct harnesses adapter for a Bose system that is 2009+ with nav/ pcm ? Confused to say the least.

I feel your pain. Fortunately, I didn't have Bose . I replaced my stereo with a Pioneer 4200nex. The interface for the bose set up alone, is several hundred dollars. You can look at sonic electronix online. I got mine off Ebay. The reason is the Bose setup has fiber optic, if I remember correctly. As for the CD, I'm not sure but it makes sense you couldn't just buy a CD off Ebay and pop it in, else I think everyone would be doing that.

With your Bose , you need the Most HUR integration kit from EuroMotorSpeed on ebay, or Suncoast . it's the same parts either way. I just installed it and a new Pioneer in mine. Email Loi at support @ euromotorspeed.com and he'll walk you through what you need.
