Okay, this is my first ever post here. I'm not a collector, connoisseur, or gear head. I'm just a guy who just yesterday purchased his dream car, a 2009 Cayman w/PDK. I don't much like the stereo and would love Navigation, bluetooth streaming, and a rear view camera. The only advice I've received thus far is use only OEM. That's simply not an option, not with what that would cost. I'm not a wealthy guy, but I'm willing drop a couple thousand'ish. Could someone point me in a direction? Google searches haven't helped one bit.
Thanks!
Nate

Here's a tip. Look in the 987 forums. Been covered ad nauseum. Pick a thread

BTW, much easier w/o Bose
Knew it had to be here somewhere. I've not used forums previously. Thanks for the help. I am Bose free so that's good news.

I have a 987.2 and just had a Pioneer 4200nex installed. I don't need Nav so the 4200 works great for me. There are 3-4 versions that do have nav and I think they have a $100 mail in rebate until the end of July. They range from $500-$1000. Double din touch screen, bluetooth, optional satellite, pandora, etc. Mine works with both android and iPhone (carplay). I did not have Bose so my adapter kit was around $30.
I also got the XM Sirius kit and free satellite radio for 3 months. I was going to upgrade the door speakers but decided to wait to see how the OE sound with the new head unit. So far, love the new stereo and sound. I'm going to box up the old OE unit and keep it in case whomever buys my car down the road wants to put it back in. Can't imagine why they'd want to though...
So glad to hear of a positive aftermarket experience!! Thank you much!! It looks great!! Who did your install? Did you have an issues finding someone to do it? Did you wind up with any dead controls or does everything still work?

I bought the unit from Tri-state (an authorized Pioneer dealer) online. I then bought the install off amazon. Yup..Amazon. It was $125 and the guy came to my house to install it. I had already purchased the adapter frame kit, the cables and the satellite tuner. The cheapest local shop was $150. Another shop wanted $350 and I figured Amazon must do a pretty good job of screening if they are going to stand behind the mobile installer. He was nice. Arrived on time and only took about an hour and a half.
As for everything working, I do not have PDK, I have a 6 speed so I didn't have steering wheel control to begin with. However, the stereo came with a remote and I like that. The only difference I see is on the middle gauge where the speedo is. Instead of saying, "radio", etc, it just displays a couple dashes. "--"
Good stuff snowlady. Thanks for the info.
I'm looking to upgrade mt CDR30 so I'll add this to the short list.
Does yours have BT? If so, how does it work hearing and talking during calls?
Thanks again,
Eddie
Yes, mine has bluetooth. I haven't had a minute to try the phone call feature yet because I drive my company car 99% of the time during the week. I know that when I didn't have the satellite radio on, the bluetooth paired up with my android phone right away. I didn't have to do anything, which was nice.
Quick tip: Hualingan HL-8815GB. Keeps it looking OEM, integrates with CAN-bus and will allow you to keep steering wheel controls/dash display etc. Do a forum search and you will find more info.
Interesting, but alien. It appears they're not for any Porsches after 2008 however?
