Hello All:
I'm wondering if anyone has access to a Durameteric tool that would allow me to set codes on my 987.1 Boxster? Although it looks like a powerful tool, I'm not sure I want to spring for a multi-hundred-dollar tool to make a quick adjustment.
My issue is the TPMS sensors. The batteries in mine have gone and since I've got an air compressor in the garage and monitor my tire pressure very closely, I don't really rely on the TPMS to tell me when there is a problem. And having to clear the error every time I start up along with the annoying dash lights is just getting old. Seems like disabling the system would take all of 15 mins if I had the right tools.
If anyone has one in the Lehigh Valley, PA area (Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton) and would be willing to let me use it, I'd be happy to drive to wherever you are and slip you a nice bottle of wine/bourbon/beer or a few bucks! Whatever it takes, really!
thanks,
scott
You're likely not to get any volunteers on this request because you have to register your car's VIN for the Durametric Tool to work, and the tool only lets you register three cars (Enthusiast Version). I don't think there is a way to reset it either. I bought a used Durametric tool from a friend for $100, who used it on two cars - which he sold. It allowed me to register my car's VIN, but now it will just have to go with my car when it is sold unless I can convince Durametric to allow me to reset the registration. It does save you $$ from having to go to the Porsche dealer to reset service reminders. Good luck.
Here's a blurb straight from their instruction manual:
"Enthusiast Version
The enthusiast version is limited to 3 cars, this is done by storing the VIN numbers of the
cars it is used on in the cable itself. After the cable has been used on three cars it will
only function on these three cars.
Professional version
The professional version has no vehicle limitations and also includes an adapter for the
round diagnostic connector, and an extension cable that can extend the diagnostic cable
by up to 50 feet long."

I have a Pro version...Unfortunately, I'm a couple of thousand miles from PA. I know a bunch of people here also have Pro Durametrics, hopefully one close to you.
